Malia White and Tom Checketts of Below Deck Mediterranean have finally reunited after months apart. Over a month ago, Malia confirmed on an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen that she and Tom were still together, but were in a long distance relationship due to working on separate charters.
Tom was originally not supposed to be on this season of Below Deck Med. But after Hindrigo “Kiko” Lorran’s departure from The Wellington, Captain Sandy asked Tom to fill the role of chef while he was visiting Malia in Spain. Malia may have been hesitant about working so closely with her boyfriend, but their relationship never seemed to falter. Now, their romance is just as strong as it was before the show.
The sweet Below Deck Med couple recently reunited during a trip to London, as shown in an Instagram post shared by Tom on September 13. Tom captioned the slideshow of images, "A very brief trip to London with this one." The post included a number of photos of the couple getting into a variety of activities during the visit, including bowling and sightseeing, all while wearing face masks while out in public. Tom previously shared another Instagram post back in July expressing how much he missed his girlfriend. "It’s tough being apart so it’s lucky that absence makes the heart grow fonder!" Thankfully, long distance is nothing new for this yachting couple. They have lived and worked in different parts of the globe since the start of this past season of Below Deck Med. They ended up spending time together once Tom joined the crew, but Malia wasn't as happy as one would think. "Tom coming on board as chef was like a nightmare. On a selfish level, I wanted this to be about me becoming bosun, and I think Tom coming on board, it's now Malia and Tom. We're like a team," Malia explained to Andy Cohen on an episode of WWHL. Also, after already experiencing relationship drama in her first season, Malia was unsure of having her personal life on camera again. "It's obviously no secret that I've had relationships on the show before, and I know how it can be kind of really intense and can impact things," Malia shared with Cohen. "You know, obviously my fear is how it could affect our relationship because I love Below Deck, but it's not worth my relationship — not with him, not with this one."
It is nice to see Tom and Malia finally together after being apart for some time. The world of yachting can make it quite difficult to maintain a proper relationship with someone. Hopefully, this distance will make the heart grow fonder for Malia and Tom.
