Artist Jenny Andrews Anderson is calling out Kate Chastain from Below Deck for her insulting comments, which means that the controversial reality alum is involved in yet another scandal.
Kate rose to fame when she joined the cast of the Bravo reality series back in 2012. She had been working with Captain Lee up until last year. Then, she decided to leave yachting to pursue other career opportunities. Now, Kate has come under fire for some rude comments she made towards an artist. Kate contacted the artist because she wanted to buy one of her pieces.
The artist Jenny shared several screenshots to her @jennyandrewsanderson Instagram, featuring an alleged conversation that she had with the reality celeb via DMs, as reported by Cheat Sheet. She uploaded the conversation to her Instagram Grid and even added the last bit that was cut off to her Stories. Apparently, Kate reached out to Jenny, asking if she could purchase one of her paintings. In the beginning, the conversation was friendly and complimentary. Kate told the artist that she had followed her blog for many years. Once Kate wanted to negotiate the price of the art she wanted to buy, the conversation started to go south, with Kate calling Jenny rude and Jenny feeling offended. Kate thought the price was a bit high and asked her if she could lower it from $3500 to $2000, with shipping included. Chastain added that since she films a talk show from her home, she will be able to display the art, which she assumed would increase the artist's sales. The artist did not seem open to meeting the price that Kate had suggested. See the post of the screenshot below:
Jenny ended her comment by saying, “Just as you would decline unpaid appearances and opportunities to work for free, respectfully, so do I." This comment did not sit well with Kate, who fired back. Kate said she did not mean to be insulting and that she was sure Jenny didn't mean to insult her either. She added that she was not asking for anything for free. The reality star then started to get angry, saying that she would have paid the full price if Jenny would have let her know the price was firm. “Your response was insulting and rude,” Kate said, adding, “Unfortunately all I see when I look at that painting is ugliness. Be well. I guess maybe your work is not my favorite or the best.” Jenny replied to Kate Chastain, explaining that nothing about her own response was rude. She did find Kate very disrespectful. She continued her thoughts on the exchange in her caption, adding that what the former Below Deck star did was not okay, and said that using "clout...as a bargaining tool is the grossest of gross."
This common inquiry turned into a completely rude exchange due to Below Deck alum Kate Chastain. This is not the way to go about treating someone who is running a business.
