Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Gary King has been called out by fans for his lack of appeal, even though multiple crew members seem to have fallen in love with him. Two of the girls on board are exhibiting typical behavior with one another, resulting in a mean girl mentality, and Bravo viewers just don't get it.
The Love Boat may have ended its long series run years ago, but the new Below Deck Sailing Yacht crew is taking over the helm thanks to their love triangle. Gary made the mistake of having his cake and trying to eat it too after sleeping with his deckhand, Sydney Zaruba. After their one night in the guest cabin, he turned his sights towards the third stew, Alli Dore. Gary has come across as exceptionally cruel ever since he quickly strung his deckhand along and dropped her for the next pretty girl that walked by.
There is no doubt that Below Deck Sailing Yacht's Gary is an objectively attractive man, but some traits are a turn off, such as his smoking habit and tendency to get himself into trouble. Fans on Reddit have pointed out that Colin, the chief engineer, is much more handsome, even though he is married. But the real issue seems to be with Sydney and her manipulative attitude. The Floridian has not taken kindly to having been put in the corner by Gary, and she is taking it out on Alli.

Sydney has portrayed some rather gross characteristics towards Gary and Alli. During this last episode, she tried to get the interior in trouble by complaining to the deck lead after discussing the lack of help. The blonde has been putting herself literally in the middle of the couple, competing and whispering nonsense about one another into their ears. There was concern about how she climbed into Gary's bed without consent. He didn't put up much of a fight, but the behavior came across as desperate.
Fans are alarmed at how Sydney portrays her insecure attitude and even stooping as low as to say she was the better catch because she's prettier and thinner. Sydney is currently trying to micromanage her time between work and the new couple. Gary, for his part, seems to love the attention and the chase, leaving both women to feel that they are the one he wants. He has tried to end it with Sydney, but fans believe he should be an adult and sit down with her for a proper conversation.
