Fans have branded Rachel Hargrove from Below Deck an alcoholic after witnessing her excessive drinking on the show.
Rachel joined season eight of the Bravo reality series as the new chef on the My Seanna superyacht. She briefly left the boat after the demands of a charter guest were too much for her. Rachel later came back and, while most of the crew was relieved, Captain Lee felt he could no longer trust her.
During the December 28 episode of Below Deck, the charter guests were more than impressed with Rachel's 60-plate dinner and left the crew a whopping $25,000 tip, as reported Meaww. The crew then decided to have a fun night out at where Rachel had a little too much to drink. Over the course of the night, she was annoying bosun Eddie Lucas, which he did not appreciate. He later went to stewardess Francesca Rubi to ask her if she could keep the chef away from him, as he did not approve of Rachel's behavior. However, this isn't the first time Rachel was out of control with her drinking. The last time the crew had a night out, Rachel could not stop swearing at Elizabeth Frankini as a way to motivate her. Elizabeth previously opened up to Rachel about the difficulties she was having working under Francesca. At the time, Eddie didn't bring it up to Rachel because he thought she was overwhelmed with work and her personal life, but he ultimately felt her behavior was inappropriate.
After seeing Rachel's behavior on screen, fans began to feel some type of way about her excessive drinking. One fan said, "Rachel is what’s the word I am looking for? Raging alcoholic," while another commented, "Love chef Rachel’s talent, but that girl is not at her best when she drinks excessively. Ouch!" Another fan pointed out, "Her food might be amazing but out of the kitchen Rachel seems like an exhausting person." Some even questioned whether or not Rachel plans to get drunk because of her frustration with the boat. "Does Rachel intentionally plan to get stupidly drunk every time just to quit and return so she can blame it on the alcohol?" the viewer pointed out. "Drunk Rachel is a nightmare," said another fan. "She should rethink drinking, it’s not a good look on her."
It seems as though fans agree with Eddie—Rachel's behavior when she's drinking is not a good look on her. After all the backlash about her drinking, Rachel has hopefully learned her lesson and will monitor her alcohol intake the next time she is on TV.
