Abbi Murphy, star of Below Deck, got married after her text message engagement. The young reality star only recently told fans that she had been proposed to, so the news comes as a bit of a shock to Bravo nation.

Bravo's boat-based show, Below Deck, premiered in 2013, following the crew members who work and live on luxury yachts that are over 100 feet long, as well as the lifestyle of the rich and famous charter guests who vacation on them. The show is currently on its seventh season, and it has no plans of ending as it has grown to become a fan favorite. The good-looking crew keeps fans wanting more in hopes of seeing boat love. A spinoff for the franchise was released called Below Deck: Mediterranean.

According to PeopleMurphy announced via her Instagram that she is now a married woman, choosing to set sail with her Greek captain husband. The happy news comes as a bit of a surprise since last night’s episode of Below Deck showed Murphy being proposed to via text message while she was still working on the boat, Valor. In her Instagram post, she captioned her photo saying that the two had tied the knot, showing her and her new husband embracing one another and sporting her diamond ring.

The Boston native told her fans that she got married in Plymouth, Massachusetts in a small, closed ceremony. The Bravo star went on to say that she did not want an over-the-top wedding, but rather a commitment ceremony that was meaningful. Both husband and wife will wear homemade wedding bands made by a local elementary school student. Murphy’s dad was in attendance and shared in the festivities which made Murphy’s day that much better. The redhead told her followers that she did not want a fancy wedding as she only needed to see the happiness in her husband. The Greek deckhand confirmed that the two are happy and sailing in Greece.

The two met when Murphy originally worked for the sailboat captain, but parted ways once she was cast on Below Deck. While filming the show, Murphy gained a greater appreciation of her relationship with Patrick since she originally told the cameras that their relationship was just based on sex and that they were more friends with benefits. In the early episodes, Murphy even kissed her boss, Ashton Pienaar, leading him to become jealous once she announced her engagement news. The reality star gushed about her new husband, saying that the two do have a special connection and she was not interested in getting to know anyone else.

While the couple is off to a great start in their married life, fans were shocked that Patrick first proposed via text message only after saying their first “I love yous.” The spontaneous ginger quickly responded yes and told her boat mates the same night. True fans of the show know that Murphy always follows her gut when it comes to a life-changing decision and wishes her and her new husband nothing but the best.
