Being the Ricardos has released its first trailer, showing Nicole Kidman as the legendary Lucille Ball. The highly-anticipated film stars Kidman as the iconic comedy performer opposite Javier Bardem as Desi Arnaz. Chronicling one particularly harrowing week of production on the couple's sitcom I Love Lucy, the film sees Ball and Arnaz encounter a crisis that could end both their careers and their marriage. Writer and director Aaron Sorkin has been championing the film for quite some time, officially getting the greenlight from Amazon in 2021.

Being the Ricardos assembled a star-studded cast in addition to Kidman and Bardem, including J.K. Simmons, Jake Lacy, Nina Arianda, Tony Hale, Alia Shawkat, Clark Gregg, and Nelson Franklin. Powerhouses are also found off-screen with the lauded duo's real-life children Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz, Jr. serving as executive producers. After it was announced that the two Hollywood heavy-hitters would headline Being the Ricardos, the world eagerly awaited a first look at the pair in costume. While eagle eye photographers captured glimpses of Kidman and Bardem as soon as production began back in March, fans haven't received an official look until now.

Now, Amazon Prime Video released the first teaser trailer for the movie, granting audiences the inaugural viewing of Kidman and Bardem in character as Ball and Arnaz. Narrated by Ball, the jam-packed promo features an epic version of the iconic I Love Lucy theme song. It reveals sneak peeks at the couple's life behind the camera, Ball filming some of the hit sitcom's most famous episodes, and some first looks at the impressive supporting cast. Check out the full clip below:

Kidman's narration in the trailer showcases the work she has put into nailing down the legend's raspy voice. From the get go, the story seems to put Ball in the power seat, implying that the movie will be more from her perspective. Aesthetically, the official teaser doesn't disappoint. It opens on the set of I Love Lucy, teasing exactly what the film's log-line has previously touted. Viewers will see one week in production from the Monday table read to the Friday audience taping of the show. As part of the clip, Kidman recreates various beloved moments from the I Love Lucy catalog, including the famous grape stomping scene.

The entire clip culminates in the reveal of the Being the Ricardos logo, which is a modern update of the I Love Lucy title cards. As the Lucy theme song swells in the background, fans are lulled in with the promise that this film will be packed full of nostalgia. Of course, since this first trailer is more of an overall montage, the movie's tone isn't completely clear yet. However, there's no doubt it will be heavily characterized by Aaron Sorkin's lightning fast pace and witty dialog, which this stellar cast should have no trouble executing.
