A small behind-the-scenes sneak peek reveals a glimpse of what Dan Stevens' mo-cap performance was like for Beauty and the Beast. The film -which was a live-action reimagining of the iconic Disney animated film of the same name - was met with wide open arms at the box office when it hit theaters back in March. And while the film wasn't met with quite as positive reviews as the studio's last two live-action remakes - Jon Favreau's The Lion King and David Lowery's Pete's Dragon - it's gone on to be the most financially successful of the batch that Disney has released up until this point.

But to just say that Beauty and the Beast has maintained a solid presence at the box office over the past few months would be an understatement. After crossing the $1 billion mark relatively quickly, Beauty and the Beast has gone on to become one of the top 10 highest-grossing films of all time, and will remain in theaters even when it's released on Blu-ray and Digital HD next month.

In anticipation of that Blu-ray release as well, Disney has been slowly releasing small clips from the film's special features. And following the recent release of one of the few deleted scenes from Beauty and the Beast earlier this week, a new behind-the-scenes clip from the film has been revealed online. This time focusing mostly on Dan Stevens' performance as the Beast, the clip offers fans their first real look at what the actor's mo-cap routine for the character was like, which included a heavy gray suit with mo-cap dots all over it, and metal stilts that kept him high off the ground at all times. Check out the clip for yourself in the player above.

The design of The Beast was one of the movie's more stunning visual effects achievements, with the character feeling believable and real throughout the entirety of the film, something many fans were worried about when the live-action remake was originally announced. Of course, none of that would matter if not for the quality of Stevens' performance as the character, along with the commitment from his co-stars, all of whom have received praise for their work.

Beauty and the Beast is just the latest addition in Dan Stevens' current hot streak as an actor right now as well. After making his breakout turn in 2014's horror comedy, The Guest, Stevens' has become a household name over the past few years thanks to his notable work in a number of projects, including both Beauty and the Beast and the FX X-Men series, Legion. The latter title has been renewed for a second season by FX and judging by the current trajectory of his career, it doesn't look like Stevens is showing any signs of slowing down anytime soon either.

Beauty and the Beast becomes available for purchase on Blu-ray starting June 6.
