Team GO Rocket is still causing trouble for new and experienced trainers in Pokémon GO, and the Team GO Rocket Leader, Giovanni, is still a fearsome foe indeed. Players looking to take him down will need the best team they can get, and should work to optimize their builds for his line-up.
Players who managed to encounter this man during April will find him just as fearsome as always, even if his team is different from his debut to Pokémon GO in 2022. He brings five powerful Shadow Pokémon to the table: Persian, Nidoking, Cloyster, Garchomp, and Regice. Trainers will fight him over in one on one matches over the course of three rounds. As always his trusty Persian the Legendary are the guaranteed first and third rounds a trainer will need to defeat, but the second round can be any one of the remaining three. It is almost impossible to have a perfect counter ready for all three, but players should be able to get through so long as they are careful.

Astute trainers will note the overlap between Giovanni's Type-weaknesses, so there is a potential benefit to trying to go for overlap. However, trainers should not plan on using the same Pokémon in two different rounds in Pokémon GO, as it will faint.
