Legoshi finally confronts Tem's killer in Beastars season 2, so what lies ahead for the conflicted teen wolf and the other students of Cherryton Academy? With Beastars season 3 now confirmed by Studio Orange and Netflix, here's everything we know about the anime's upcoming story arc and likely release date.

Based on the manga series by Paru Itagaki, Beastars is set in a world of anthropomorphic animals where society is divided into herbivores and carnivores. Though this world is outwardly civilized, there's still tension between the two classes of species and an undercurrent of violence as some carnivores give in to their urges to devour prey animals. Legoshi, an awkward teenage grey wolf, struggles to separate his romantic feelings for a white dwarf rabbit called Haru from his instincts as a predator. Meanwhile, a murder mystery unfolds as Legoshi tries to find the carnivore responsible for brutally devouring his friend, an alpaca called Tem.

Beastars Season 3 Story

Beastars Season 2 Legoshi and Bill Jaw Wars

Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Beastars season 2.

Beastars season 2 concluded the murder mystery arc with the reveal that Riz, a brown bear and a fellow member of Cherryton Academy's drama club, was responsible for killing and devouring Tem. Rather than taking this information to the police, Legoshi decided to fight Riz himself. By working with carnivore therapist Gouhin, Legoshi was able to get control over his predator instincts, but his intense training and abstinence from eating meat left him too weak to defeat Riz in battle. In the climactic season finale, Louis invited Legoshi to eat the lower half of his leg, leaving Louis alive but giving Legoshi just enough strength to match Riz in battle. Legoshi and Riz were both arrested, and while Legoshi was released, he now has a devouring incident on his permanent record.

The relationship between Legoshi and Haru was largely put on the back-burner during Beastars season 2, but the final scene suggested that there will be a progression in season 3, as Haru warns Legoshi that she'll find another boyfriend if he doesn't make up his mind about dating her. In the manga, the next story arc is "Interspecies Relations," in which Legoshi leaves school and has to learn how to get by in the outside world, while also maintaining his relationship with Haru as she starts to attend university.
