Bear and Breakfast is a woodland-themed life simulator game where players, controlling Hank the Bear, build rooms for a bed and breakfast in the forest. The premise of the game is to build a successful bed and breakfast at various locations throughout the woods; once players reach a certain score in each motel, they move on to the next one and can build more and different types of rooms. Along the way, players meet strange new characters and immerse themselves in Hank's world, trying to bring human visitors back to the woods.
The first motel players renovate is pretty small, but it serves as the tutorial for Bear and Breakfast. There is room for the front desk and a room, but little else; visitors even need to use an outhouse. However, once the second motel is unlocked, players can experiment more with building and destroying rooms to maximize guest happiness and needs, and by extension, the amount of money they pay for the room.
To build a room, enter the build mode, which players will learn how to do in Bear and Breakfast tutorial. Click on the hammer logo to see different room types, choose the desired room type, and drag the boxes on the floor to space it out. This mechanic is similar to other simulator games like Two Point Hospital; room size goes a long way to maximizing efficiency and being able to house more guests. Players cannot build a room smaller than the minimum size, but can make them as large as they want. To destroy a room, simply click on the room and click on delete on the popup box that appears on the right.
Basic Tips for Building and Destroying Rooms in Bear and Breakfast
Being able to build, edit, and destroy rooms in Bear and Breakfast is crucial to maximizing the rating score and satisfying customers' needs. Here are some basic tips for building new rooms:
- Rooms can be a minimum of 4x3 squares
- Bedrooms need to be near various facilities; there cannot be a motel with all bedrooms.
- There needs to be one bathroom for every two bedrooms
- Each motel will have different types of rooms to build as players progress through the game
In addition to deleting, players can also edit rooms and view their Bear and Breakfast rating score by clicking on it. If players choose to edit the room, they will not be able to delete it, but can edit the size of it. Clicking on the room will also tell players what elements are missing; if a toilet is missing from a bathroom, it won't be a properly functioning room and will not provide a good score or hygiene rating.
