The newly released trailer from HBO Max for the upcoming Beanie Babies documentary titled Beanie Mania dives headfirst into the craze of the 90s that surrounded the famed plush collectibles. The small stuffed Ty Inc. toys were first introduced to the world in 1993 before quickly becoming a hit and must-have-collectible for fans everywhere. The toy company would frequently release new designs under a strict limited supply. They also retired older designs to steadily pump out the new ones, helping the toys remain rare while new designs are constantly hitting the market, drawing in collectors new and old.

HBO Max has released the first official trailer for the upcoming Beanie Mania documentary that is set to release on the streaming service on December 23. The Beanie Mania trailer is dripping in nostalgia and takes audiences straight into the Beanie Baby phenomenon that overtook the United States during the 1990s, from elbow pushing inside department stores to the introduction of online trading with the widespread adoption of the internet. The HBO Max trailer reflects simpler times with thick phonebooks and dial-up internet connections, showing first-hand footage of passionate collectors hoping to make a profit off of the purchase of a hand-held stuffed animal. The upcoming HBO Max documentary will also see interviews with collectors as well as the creator of Ty Inc. and Beanie Babies himself, Ty Warner. Following the vein of other nostalgia documentaries like The Toys That Made Us and The Movies That Made Us, Beanie Mania is sure to spark memories for some viewers while introducing the insane story of the iconic toy to others. Beanie Mania will be available to stream exclusively on HBO Max, premiering December 23.
