Time is BBC's latest mini-series, and it has proven to be a hit from the start. This gripping prison drama is one that has had audiences hooked throughout, with plenty of twists and turns, violent moments, and a lot of emotion within each episode. The characters are all detailed and whether they're prison inmates, the staff, or the family living on the outside, they all have their own specific personalities.

BBC brought together an excellent cast for this series, which is one of the reasons why the show has proven to have such strong characters. But the actors within the show are also known from other places, having all made their names elsewhere.

Stephen Graham: Line Of Duty

Stephen Graham is a terrific actor and he takes on a lead role within this new series, working as one of the prison officers, Eric. He's considered to be the boss within that world, having huge respect from the prisoners until he ends up in a scenario where he has to smuggle drugs into his own prison in order to protect his son.

Another popular show that Stephen was cast in was Line Of Duty, playing John Corbett who ends up having a core role within the series. However, his career has seen him be involved in some huge movies as well, with Stephen's tremendous ability seeing him grow as a major name in the industry.

Sue Johnston: The Royle Family

Sue Johnston is well-known for her excellent comic timing, and that was clear throughout her role on The Royle Family. The popular comedy series that just focused on one family inside their house was a real hit, with Sue being the head of the family as Barbara.

However, Time showcased a totally different side of her acting ability. Playing June Cobden, the role brought her emotional acting to the forefront after she had to deal with her son being placed in prison.

David Calder: The World Is Not Enough

David Calder takes on the role of John Cobden, being June's husband who can be seen visiting their son in prison several times throughout the series. John's story is grounded in the family aspect of things, and that's something that makes the character an intriguing one.

David has had a fantastic career, and he is likely best known by people for appearing in the world of James Bond. David portrayed Sir Robert King within The World Is Not Enough, which is one of the strongest Bond movies of all time.

Kadiff Kirwan: The Stranger

Kadiff Kirwan's two greatest roles couldn't be further away from each other if they tried. In Time, Kadiff finds himself inside the prison as an inmate and one that has no problem in blackmailing prison officer, Eric, threatening his son who is in a totally different prison, showing the connections he has.

However, in the hit Netflix mystery, Kadiff actually works on the right side of the law as he takes on the role of DC Wesley Ross, a charismatic policeman who does everything he can to try and work out the different situations that he is faced with, from a missing person to an injured boy.

James Nelson-Joyce: Little Boy Blue

James Nelson-Joyce is another actor who plays a prison inmate within this series, and his character, Johnno is another character who gives no respect to anybody else. He constantly looks to hurt and harm others, throwing his weight around to look as scary as possible.

James Nelson-Joyce was also involved in the series, Little Boy Blue, which also featured Stephen Graham. He plays James Yates in the show, which is all featured on a young boy being shot on the way home from a soccer match.

Aneurin Barnard: Dunkirk

Aneurin Barnard plays the role of Bernard in Time, where he is Mark's original prison cellmate. He is experienced with prison life and believes there is a conspiracy going on, but he also suffers from mental health, which leads to him taking drastic measures in a bid to calm himself down.

He plays the role excellently, bringing in a real element of emotion to the character which has an impact on the show overall. But he is best known for his role in the hit war movie Dunkirk, playing Gibson, who can be seen on the beach and inside the boat throughout the movie.

Brian McCardie: Line Of Duty

Brian McCardie is another actor who is best known for being part of Line Of Duty, which proved to be one of BBC'smost successful shows of all time. He portrayed Tommy Hunter who was one of the original villains of the series, organizing crime and corrupting the police from within.

Being a villain is something that Brian is used to and has done several times, which is why he was a natural fit in Time. Playing Jackson Jones, he was one of the most feared prisoners who controlled the drug traffic inside, proving to be a problem for several of the main characters.

Jack McMullen gets to play one of the younger prisoners within Time, and his backstory is one that is explained better than most. The change in his emotions is shown clearly, as he has to explain why he murdered his former friend as he then falls down a dark path within the prison itself.

He's a talented actor and that was clear from early on in his career when Jack was part of the popular show, Waterloo Road. This series set around a school saw Jack take on the role of Finn Sharkey, who may have started out as a cheeky chap, but quickly became a fan favorite.

Sean Bean is one of the most well-known names in acting, having been involved in some huge movies and television shows throughout his career. One of those just so happens to be Game Of Thrones, where he played Ned Stark, which ended up being one of the most memorable roles in the series.

In Time, Sean Bean plays the lead character, Mark Cobden, who is a teacher that ends up killing someone by drink driving, with his alcohol addiction getting out of control. He's someone who isn't the typical prison inmate and seeing how he handles his time inside with all the ups and downs that come with it is fascinating to watch.
