The CW's Supergirl star Melissa Benoist will reportedly appear in Batwoman season 1, the upcoming Arrowverse DC TV show starring Ruby Rose. Though the Arrowverse initially began with Arrow back in 2012, the shared superhero universe has grown a great deal to include shows like The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Supergirl originally aired on CBS before moving over to The CW and, as a result, Kara Danvers (Benoist) lives on a different Earth in the multiverse. Then, last year's Arrowverse crossover introduced Kate Kane (Rose), who resides in Gotham on Earth-1 - the same Earth on which Arrow and The Flash are set.

Supergirl and Batwoman met during the Elseworlds crossover, as the latter helped the former and her superhero friends track down the reason for Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) waking up in Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) life and vice versa. With the solo Batwoman TV show premiering this fall, the superhero will officially join The CW's lineup of DC TV shows, and will then participate in the next major crossover event: Crisis on Infinite Earths. This year's Arrowverse crossover is expected to shakeup the franchise as we know it, but it appears there will be a much more minor crossover to look forward to as well.

Now, FandomWire is reporting that Supergirl will appear on Batwoman at some point during the latter's season 1. The publication speculates it will occur prior to Crisis on Infinite Earths and help connect their respective TV shows ahead of the crossover. Neither The CW nor anyone involved in either series have yet to confirm the report, but FandomWire did break the news of Black Lightning appearing in Crisis on Infinite Earths, with series star Cress Williams confirming the long-separate DC TV show as part of the Arrowverse.

The CW Elseworlds - Supergirl and Batwoman

With the Batwoman pilot set before the Arrowverse Elseworlds crossover, the TV show will have to catch up to the rest of the universe before Crisis on Infinite Earths. There's no doubt a time jump will be involved, though it's unclear how early in season 1 that will occur. A minor crossover with Supergirl could also help bridge the gap between Batwoman's pilot and Crisis on Infinite Earths, which will air across five hours of TV starting in December. Plus, given how much chemistry there was between Benoist and Rose in the Elseworlds crossover, fans are no doubt eager to see the two reunite - and if it occurs before all the Arrowverse superheroes unite for Crisis, then that's even better.

Of course, it remains to be seen if this Supergirl and Batwoman crossover actually happens, and if it does before Crisis kicks off. Until set photos appear or The CW confirms the crossover, fans should take this report with a little grain of salt. It does sound likely, since The CW's Arrowverse shows have been known to feature smaller crossovers outside each annual event. And FandomWire did correctly report Black Lightning will be in Crisis, but fans should still temper their expectations just in case. Though it would be great to see Supergirl and Batwoman team up for their own Arrowverse crossover, fans can at least rest assured knowing the superheroines will unite in Crisis on Infinite Earths when that kicks off in December.
