Ruby Rose is incredibly proud and supportive of her Batwoman replacement Javicia Leslie. Rose joined the CW's highly-successful Arrowverse in 2018 when she was cast as Kate Kane, AKA Batwoman. She was first established in that year's annual crossover, Elseworlds, and while there was some pushback over Rose's initial casting, most fans seemed to warm up to her by the time her solo series began in 2019. Batwoman season 1 came to an end in May with an explosive finale that firmly set up the already-ordered season 2, but days later, fans were shocked with the news that Rose would be exiting the series ahead of the season premiere.

Rose initially remained quiet about her departure, though reports of on-set tension and Rose's dissatisfaction with television work emerged soon after. The CW began the search for Rose's replacement with the promise that they would find an LGBTQ actress to play the lesbian lead, though it was later revealed that Kate would no longer be Batwoman. Instead, a new character named Ryan Wilder is being introduced. Finally, just last month, Leslie was announced as Batwoman's new lead.

Rose opened up about her Batwoman exit in an interview with EW, where she also touched upon Leslie's casting and her thoughts towards it. When asked if she has any advice for the newest Arrowverse hero, Rose replied, "None! I think she definitely knows what she's doing and she seems fantastic." She then went on to add, "I think that honestly, I was so proud and so happy when I was told who would be replacing me. I'm just really stoked and I'm definitely going to watch the next season as well and see how it all comes together."

Batwoman Javicia Leslie

Rose previously shared her support for Leslie when her casting was first announced, saying, "I am so glad Batwoman will be played by an amazing Black woman." Leslie was also welcomed into the Arrowverse by The Flash star Grant Gustin. There's a lot of curiosity surrounding Leslie's introduction, especially since she'll be playing an entirely original character. Ryan Wilder was described as being "nothing like Kate Kane" in an initial casting call, indicating Batwoman is really about to head into some new territory. Considering how season 1 ended with a cliffhanger that would have serious ramifications for Kate, it'll be interesting to see how Ryan now copes with it.

It might come as relief to some to see Rose is very supportive of Leslie taking over Batwoman as it shows things are in good hands. Rose's exit was a huge shock, and one that has no doubt left the writers scrambling to come up with a new plan. Luckily, their new leading lady already has her fair share of supporters. There's no bad blood between Rose and Leslie, and while it's disappointing that Rose won't get to see Kate's story through, it sounds like Leslie is up to the task of carrying on the show without her.
