A new Batwoman season 3 trailer is released online. Based on the DC Comics character of the same name, Batwoman is created by Caroline Dries for The CW. The show premiered in 2019 and initially focused on the adventures of Ruby Rose's Kate Kane as she became the vigilante for Gotham City after the mysterious disappearance of her billionaire philanthropist cousin Bruce Wayne and his alter-ego Batman. But Rose quit Batwoman after season 1, leading the show to introduce a new lead for season 2 onwards. God Friended Me's Javicia Leslie was subsequently announced as the new heroine, Ryan Wilder, a street-level hero and drug runner, who assumed Kate Kane's mantle as Gotham's new protector.

Although Batwoman opted for a new lead after Rose's exit, her character, Kate Kane, wasn't written off immediately in the show. Rather the part was recast, with Krypton's Wallis Day stepping in for Rose. Season 2 then focused on establishing Leslie's Ryan as the new Batwoman, at the same time resolving the conundrum of what happened to Kate Kane. Some new villains were also added, including Shivani Ghai's Safiyah Sohail and Peter Outerbridge's Roman Sionis / Black Mask and his False Face Society. Ultimately, by the season finale, Ryan was able t0 defeat the villains and embody her role as the new Batwoman. She also received Kate's blessings, who then left Gotham in search of her cousin. Season 2 ended with two intriguing cliffhangers, one where Ryan learns that her biological mother is still alive, and another where the various Bat-villain trophies float in a river. These events will now play out in season 3, a preview of which has been released.

The CW Network dropped the first teaser trailer for Batwoman's upcoming season 3. Highlighting the premiere date for the new show to be October 13, 2021, the clip mainly focuses on Alice's (Rachel Skarsten) role moving forward. After being arrested at the end of season 2, Alice will now assist the Bat Team recover all the lost Bat-villain trophies from prison.  It's not immediately clear why she has chosen to help the heroes, but it appears that her creepy instincts will come in handy for Ryan and the team. Watch the video below.

Season 3 is positioned to introduced lots of new characters to the world of Batwoman. Riverdale's Robin Givens, for instance, is slated to appear as business mogul Jada Jett, who is possibly Ryan's birth mother, while Nick Creegan will show up as Marquis, Jada's casanova son and Ryan's potential brother. Besides them, Gotham's Victoria Cartagena is also attached as the DC heroine, Renee Montoya, with Jane The Virgin's Bridget Regan playing the infamous Batman villain, Pamela Isley / Poison Ivy. An appearance from The Penguin/ Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot has been ruled out, although he may still pop up in the final episodes to set up a potential season 4.

It's true that the new footage doesn't feature any of the characters that will debut in the upcoming Batwoman season 3. But it's quite likely that the first glimpse at them will be revealed soon, possibly through an official trailer that may drop anytime in the coming weeks. For now, Batwoman seems to be stressing Alice's rapidly changing character trajectory, which seems to be leaning more toward the positive side. Alice has been a foil for the Gotham heroines right from the get-go, although she now appears to have a shot at redemption. Whether she would embrace this opportunity and join the Bat Team, or would she betray the heroes again is something that requires fans to wait and watch.
