The CW has revealed a new poster for their upcoming third season of Batwoman. Developed by showrunner Caroline Dries, work on the series began in earnest when it was announced that the character of Kate Kane would appear in the 2018 Arrowverse crossover event, Elseworlds. Originally helmed by Ruby Rose as the titular character, her sudden departure following the show’s first season saw Javicia Leslie assume the role of a new Batwoman, Ryan Wilder.

In February this year, the CW officially announced that Batwoman would be renewed for a third season, alongside other Arrowverse shows, The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. While it was later announced that original cast member Dougray Scott would not be returning as Jacob Kane, series regulars Camrus Johnson (Luke Fox AKA Batwing), Rachel Skarsten (Alice), Meagan Tandy (Sophie), Nicole Kang (Mary) would all be reprising their respective roles. More recently, it was announced that Legend of the Seeker’s Bridget Regan would also be joining the cast as the classic Batman villain, Poison Ivy.

With the season 3 premiere set to hit screens on October 13th, The CW is beginning to ramp up promotion for the new season by releasing a new poster. Shared by the official CW Batwoman Twitter account, the latest poster shows Leslie’s Batwoman standing in front of the legendary gates of Gotham’s Arkham Asylum with the tagline “Out for Justice. Check out the poster below:

While the poster doesn’t offer fans much in the way of potential plot details, it does celebrate Leslie’s character as the official owner of the Batwoman persona. When Rose first made her departure from the series, Dries took the gamble of diverging from DC comic canon and creating an entirely new character in the form of Ryan Wilder. While Wilder ultimately proved worthy of her tenure as Gotham’s latest caped crusader, much of her season 2 adventures were always done under the enormous shadow of her predecessor.

In the season 2 finale, however, Kate Kane (played by Wallis Day), gave Wilder her official blessing to continue as Batwoman while she decided to leave Gotham and seek out the missing Bruce Wayne. Now in full and undisputed possession of the Batwoman persona, this new season offers Leslie the opportunity to more fully put her stamp on the series. With Alice revealing that Wilder’s biological mother is still alive, and hints that Poison Ivy is set to play a major role in coming events, Batwoman season 3 is sure to provide plenty to keep fans glued to their screens.
