Alice will be reaching a definite low point in the upcoming Batwoman season 3 finale, according to the showrunner. While Batwoman began with Alice as a primary antagonist, Rachel Skarsten's villainous DC character has gone through quite the evolution in the last two seasons. Following the departure of both her sister and father, the Arrowverse drama has positioned the remaining Kane member in a new light, especially in Batwoman season 3. After what Alice went through in Batwoman season 2, the ongoing season has explored the villainess' deeper layers, primarily through her bond with Mary Hamilton.

As Alice has begun to explore a new path for herself, the latest Batwoman season 3 episodes have shown her mental struggle. Determined to cure herself, Alice has been trying to get a hold of The Joker's Joy Buzzer, which is what messed with Marquis Jet's mind, in order to fix herself. The penultimate episode, "We're All Mad Here," saw Alice beginning to reach her breaking point, which resulted in her getting sent back to Arkham Asylum. However, the infamous DC mental institution will likely not hold her back for long due to the Batwoman season 3 finale being just around the corner.

While Batwoman season 4 hasn't been greenlighted just yet, fans should be ready for an intense season finale for Alice. In a new interview with TVLine, showrunner Caroline Dries previewed the upcoming finale, titled "We Having Fun Yet?" which airs right after the Legends of Tomorrow season 7 finale. Dries teased that the season 3 closer will perhaps be Alice's most challenging Batwoman episode of all time, sharing the following:

"We saw her wish that it could just be a ‘light switch’ that she turns on and off, and she wants that buzzer more than anything. I really needed to see Alice at her low point [in the finale] to make her worthy of deserving Joker’s Joy Buzzer as much as Marquis is deserving of [it], to make this a challenge for our audience to wonder who they’re supposed to root for. You see her at a definite low point in the beginning of the episode."

Batwoman Season 2 Alice

As the Arrowverse drama has shifted to other threats, they have slowly been alluding to a potential redemption arc. Batwoman season 3 has made it very clear that the show wants to redefine Alice's role, especially with her Kane family members absent. While Alice may not be a superhero, her DC counterpart did go down the anti-hero route at one point by becoming Red Alice. If she successfully manages to take the Joy Buzzer, that could lead to the Arrowverse doing its own take on her transformation into Red Alice.

If Red Alice is what Batwoman is doing, it would allow the Arrowverse to include more anti-hero representation. So far, the franchise hasn't played around with those types of characters, with Black Lightning's Painkiller being one of the few major ones. At this point, Batwoman has done pretty much everything they can with Alice as a super-villain. Moving her into the Red Alice direction would also be an organic way to incorporate her into Batwoman's team more consistently. Hopefully, fans will know sooner rather than later what Alice's future will look like after the Batwoman season 3 finale.
