Batwoman season 2 set photos offer the first look at Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder. When season 1 of Batwoman wrapped up, fans were left with a surprising cliffhanger that set up an exciting season 2. However, the Arrowverse at large was thrown for a loop when Ruby Rose, who had played Batwoman lead Kate Kane since the 2018 crossover event Elseworlds, exited the newest Arrowverse show. Rose has spoken about her departure since then, describing the strain that the role put on her. There was much speculation about who would be cast as the new Kate, but fans received another surprise when they learned the next Batwoman would be completely different character.

Leslie was officially cast as Batwoman's new lead in July and quickly gained the support of Rose and fellow Arrowverse star Grant Gustin. Best known for her roles on shows like God Friended Me and The Family Business, Leslie will play original character Ryan Wilder, someone who has been described as the opposite of Kate. This will mark Leslie's first superhero role, and fans are rather excited to see how Ryan will fit into the world of Batwoman. Production on season 2 began earlier this month, and now fans can get their first glimpse of Leslie in action.

Thanks to Canadagraphs, the first images of Leslie on Batwoman have been revealed. While she unfortunately isn't in her Batsuit just yet, she is at the center of an action scene. The set photos reveal Ryan in the middle of what looks like a holdup at a convenience store. Unsurprisingly, Ryan doesn't simply sit back and take this lying down; she fights back. This certainly seems to be one of those hero-in-the-making moments. Check out the photos down below.

It's noted that these images could be from the second episode of Batwoman season 2, but it's not completely certain. Nevertheless, it looks like Batwoman wants to establish Ryan's heroic side pretty quickly. Since Ryan's a brand new character, audiences don't have many opinions of her. If the show does a good job of establishing Ryan as a worthy Batwoman replacement, however, it won't matter. Fans will begin rooting for her right away.

Ryan has been described as an ordinary street kid, and that falls in line with these set photos. She's clearly connected to her community and is willing to jump into a fight just to protect it. Since Kate was more of an upper-class hero, this could provide the perfect opportunity to establish Ryan as her own person instead of just another Kate. There's a lot of anticipation surrounding Leslie's Batwoman debut, and while it won't arrive for a while, at least fans have an idea of what to expect.
