Javicia Leslie's Ryan Wilder suits up in Kate Kane's suit in the first look at Batwoman season 2. The second season of Batwoman is set to feature a major change in front of the camera. Ruby Rose starred as Kate Kane in the first season of The CW show, but she will not be returning for season 2. Rose's decision to leave left Batwoman to figure out what to do with the future of the show.

It was ultimately decided that a new woman would take on the Batwoman mantle, with Javicia Leslie cast as Ryan Wilder, an original character not from the comics. Wilder will put a new spin on Batwoman, as she'll have a different personality than Kate and mark the first time a Black woman wears the suit. It has already been confirmed that the Batwoman suit will evolve as Wilder spends more time taking over Kate's mantle. But, the first look at season 2 of Batwoman puts Wilder in the familiar attire.

Batwoman star Javicia Leslie revealed the first look at her in the Batwoman suit for season 2 on Instagram. The behind-the-scenes look appears to be from a camera test of Leslie in Kate Kane's Batwoman suit. This is the first photo of what Ryan Wilder will initially look like in Batwoman, but Leslie was quick to tease fans that it will start to look different once she begins making some updates to the suit.

Wilder will update the Batwoman suit during season 2 of the show, but it was previously confirmed that she'll wear Kate Kane's suit at first. This could be used to help explain how Wilder takes over the Batwoman mantle in the show. While this goes to show that Batwoman could get away with keeping Wilder in the traditional costume, showrunner Caroline Dries has said that the changes need to be made to reflect that a Black woman is now Batwoman.

Even though this first look doesn't show what changes Wilder will make to the Batwoman suit, there has already been some teases of how it could be updated. Some art from DC FanDome teased some updates to the suit's colors and the possibility of Wilder not wearing the red wig. The idea of her ditching the wig and letting her natural textured hair flow from the Batwoman suit has been popular amongst fans and would further differentiate the difference between Wilder and Kane. With Batwoman season 2 only recently starting production, hopefully, an official look at the final suit will come once they start using it during filming.
