Battlefield V returns to the Pacific theater of war next week, on Halloween, with Chapter 5: War in the Pacific. This latest major expansion in DICE's free post-launch content plans for Battlefield V addresses one of the community's most requested features, and brings back beloved content from the original Battlefield 1942.

After a comparatively slow roll-out of content (albeit, all free!) compared to prior Battlefield games and an endless series of disappointments in the delayed releases of modes like the game's co-op and battle royale features (and cancelled 5v5 mode and cancelled soldier-dragging), Battlefield V has been seen as a mixed bag. It's offerings are a step backward from prior games in the series, despite improvements to visuals and animations. It released a year or two too early and has been playing catch up since.

In a step forward into some much needed positive buzz, Chapter 5 is poised to deliver something big to the community, and publisher Electronic Arts and developer DICE have launched another epic and re-watchable trailer to market the upcoming DLC releasing on October 31 for all platforms (again, for free).

Battlefield V's War in the Pacific in the pacific update adds a pair of factions, three maps, new weapons and battle pickups, new vehicles and reinforcements, and of course, new elite skins alongside added challenges and chapter rewards. Details below.

What New Content Does Chapter 5: War in the Pacific add to Battlefield V?

Battlefield V Chapter 5 Pacific Trailer

2 New Battlefield V factions (featuring new unique outfits):

  • U.S. Armed Forces
  • Imperial Japanese Army

3 new maps (one delayed until December):

  • Iwo Jima - The U.S. is attacking Iwo Jima on all fronts, and in this beachlanding mayhem you’ll be engaged in a fight over the thinner part of the island. It’s an all or nothing clash across wide-open black beaches and close-range environments like the tunnels of the mighty Mount Suribachi, inviting you to an iconic king-of-the-hill battle. Landing boats, aircraft, and tanks are plentiful, and each can sway the match in their own way. Push the enemy towards the final objective or hold back the onslaught on this highly dynamic map.
  • Pacific Storm - The weather is as treacherous as your foes on this set of islands where a game-changing storm may roll in, reducing your sightlines and evolving the battle. Move between islands with your squad and secure the control points using boats, amphibious tanks, or aircraft. As you attack or defend across land, air, and sea – stay on your toes! You never know what’s around the next ridge. Fans of Battlefield™ 4 will see shades of the classic map Paracel Storm in the world of possibilities offered through Pacific Storm’s layout.
  • Wake Island (Coming in December) - Arguably the most legendary map since the dawn of Battlefield™, Wake Island arrives to Battlefield V in reimagined form in December. The map’s iconic, horseshoe-shaped layout ensures dynamic changes to where the action will be – though the Airfield and other areas granting vehicle access are sure to be constant focal points. Keep on the move to win the battle. Use Fortifications to create chokepoints and lure enemy forces into kill boxes. Do everything it takes in this war-ridden tropical setting to conquer the island, the skies, and the waves.

Battlefield V Chapter 5 Pacific Reinforcements

2 New Elite Skins

  • Jack Culver - The unflinching Jack is as dangerous behind a mounted machine gun as with his Escape Axe melee weapon. Jack completed a dozen missions in the European theater before being reassigned to the Pacific. Always first to volunteer, he has an ability to push squadmates through what they consider impossible situations and is infamous for expending excess ammunition and explosives.
  • Keisuke Nakamura - Inspiring fearlessness in those who fight alongside him, Keisuke is an experienced, tactical, and natural-born commander, who always finds the perfect moment to strike. An authority on the battlefield and a skilled sidearm marksman, Keisuke believes a precision attack is more effective than the largest raid. Beware his skills – and his Hachiwari melee weapon.
