Publisher EA promises that Battlefield 6 is in its final stretches of development and will finally be revealed soon. 2021's Battlefield entry has been hyped up by EA all year long; although the studio is remaining a bit vague on exactly when the game's reveal will happen, past information indicates that it's probably coming within the next month or so.

It was previously confirmed that Battlefield 6 would receive a playable alpha sooner than any other titles in the series. Keeping that in mind, the earliest public alpha for a Battlefield game was for Battlefield V at the end of June 2018, and the game later released in November. It's highly likely a Battlefield 6 alpha will arrive during the early weeks of June or the end of May, which means a reveal is likely planned around that time, as well.

Right on schedule, EA is hyping up the upcoming reveal in a new blog post. Although details are unclear about when the game is set, what kinds of specific gameplay elements are in play, and more, Battlefield 6 is heavily rumored to be set in the near future and feature robots. Regardless of those yet unconfirmed details, EA revealed complete details about which of its studios (DICE, DICE LA, Criterion, and EA Gothenburg) are working on the game, also giving out some more vague teases about the new game in its latest blog post. DICE General Manager Oskar Gabrielson states:

"We’re in daily playtesting mode right now: polishing, balancing, and making the best possible Battlefield game we can. I can tell you it is a bold step. It has everything we love about Battlefield – and takes all of it to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs."

In other rumors, Battlefield 6 is expected to have crossplay and feature an a before-unmatched level of map destruction when it launches, which would be rather impressive given the scale of previous games, such as Battlefield 4's "Levolution" mechanic. The latest entry is also reportedly going to feature up to 128 players, which gives emphasis to the "all-out military warfare" and "massive battles, packed with more players" bits of Gabrielson's PR speak. Whether or not the ongoing playtesting is being done to accurately figure out player counts or if it's concretely in place remains to be seen.

Given the disappointment of Battlefield V, it seems like EA is going all-in for 2021's Battlefield entry. Although there's no guarantee that it will land with players, it seems like EA is investing a lot of time, money, and resources into this new game for it to be written off without a fight.
