A new trailer detailing some of Battlefield 2042's specialists has been released, and it showcases all-new gameplay. Battlefield 2042 will introduce a new mechanic called Specialists, which changes up the tried and true class formula that the series has established. These Specialists will act like hero characters with special abilities, similar to those seen in games like Rainbow Six Siege. Some have equipment like wingsuits, others have special attributes that allow for tactical advantages, and so on.

EA has released this trailer ahead of the Battlefield 2042 beta, which is confirmed to begin later in September. No solid release date for the beta has been given by EA or DICE, but some recent leaks have suggested it will release toward the end of the month, giving EA roughly a month to tweak the game based on player feedback ahead of its October launch. Battlefield 2042 already underwent a closed technical test in August, which is likely where the brunt of the changes DICE will make to the game before launch will originate from.

To tide fans over, EA has released a new gameplay trailer for Battlefield 2042. This is the second look at gameplay since the reveal, as there was a gameplay trailer for Battlefield 2042 shared during E3 2021. However, this one goes more in-depth into the Specialists. The video highlights all of the abilities of the various Specialists in the game ranging from the grappling hook to the syrette gun which can fire shots to heal people from afar. Falck was meant to be able to also revive people with that same gun, but Battlefield community manager Adam Freeman noted the feature was removed after it was determined to be overpowered in the latest technical test. More Specialists are expected to be in the game, so this is only the tip of the iceberg.

Footage from the Battlefield 2042 technical test recently leaked online and gave fans a better idea of how the game looks and feels. Although the footage represented an unfinished build of the game, fans were still able to see a lot of the new mechanics, one of the maps, and some other features the game holds in store. EA quickly erased these videos from platforms like YouTube, but it won't be long before fans can play the game for themselves.

As of right now, EA has yet to announce the beta dates for Battlefield 2042. The beta is confirmed to launch in September, but no other details have been revealed yet. That said, based on previous betas, it'll likely feature one or two of the best maps in the game and let players experience the all-out warfare of Battlefield 2042.
