Michelle Rodriguez is typecasted as a Bad-Ass... because she is
How will Eckhart and his platoon of actors pull of the realism of war for a film that’s aiming to be gritty and realistic? Well, director Liebesman forced them into boot camp to prepare for the role and action sequences.
"We have been in boot camp for three weeks. We've trained hard for it. I'm coming dead right off boot camp into it. The director, Jonathan Liebesman, is great. We know our stuff."
Eckhart then went on to sell the film, demonstrating his confidence in the project.
"It's going to be no ordinary aliens movie, I guarantee you that… It's going to be outrageous. This movie's going to be so great. I go out on a limb in saying that."
Aliens attacking Earth in a doc-style realistic fashion – sounds like a possible premise for District 10 should they choose to go ahead with a sequel for Neill Blomkamp’s sleeper hit of the summer.
If you're unclear of what the movie is about, here's a brief synopsis
“[Battle: Los Angeles] revolves around a Marine staff sergeant (Eckhart) and his new platoon’s battle against an alien invasion on the streets of Los Angeles.”
I’m excited at this project and I hope it’s a quality film – the idea sounds entertaining and the cast is solid. I do wonder though on what the aliens will look like and what weapons they'll use against us - will that aspect make sense in terms of their technological superiority?
