Fan art of the new Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers film imagines different movie posters for the Batman vs E.T. crossover gag. The reboot of the original 1989 Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers television series was recently released on Disney+ to generally positive reviews from both critics and audiences alike. Although the original show featured the titular heroes running a detective agency along with an eclectic group of sidekicks, the new film envisions the duo in a meta sense as washed-up cartoon actors voiced by John Mulaney and Andy Samberg.

Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers drops the anthropomorphic chipmunks into a meta universe, similar to that of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, where animated characters live alongside humans. This setting allows for a plethora of unique cameos, such as the infamous Ugly Sonic, as well as humorous referential gags. One such joke is a popular in-universe film that pits the Batman against the family-friendly alien character E.T. in an epic crossover battle. During a scene Chip 'n Dale, Chip wanders down Hollywood Boulevard and glances at the outlandish new sequels and reboots of popular franchises such as Fast and Furious Babies and Mr. Doubtfire starring Meryl Streep. Chip finally sees the poster for Batman vs. E.T., a film in the vein of Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and remarks, "Okay. That one looks pretty good," before watching the film at his home with his dog.

Recent fan art from artists Boss Logic and Rahal Nejraoui (rahalarts) has now imagined more movie posters of Batman vs. E.T. crossover joke from Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers. The first is play on the BvS posters of Batman and Superman about to slug it out, while the other imagines a more peaceful meeting between Batman and E.T. Check out the fan art, below:

BossLogic's kinetic poster envisions the Dark Knight in mid-swing as he is about to punch the amiable alien. However, E.T. does not look afraid. His finger, which he uses to heal wounds, is already alight and ready for any pain to be inflicted. Rahal's art shows E.T. with his glowing finger extended to a sinister-looking Batman, as played by Ben Affleck. Both renderings use Snyder's Batman v Superman posters as inspiration for their work, complete with their muted tones, character composition, and logo—which features E.T.'s finger inside of the Affleck's Batman symbol.

Although the joke was brief, it was a well-crafted gag complete with a scene that was similar to Superman's death in the original Batman v Superman film. While E.T. dies in Batman's arms on a decimated battlefield, the diminutive alien says, "E.T. forgives Bat." To which the hero plainly replies, "Fine." Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers is full of referential humor and fan service that will most likely continue to produce a torrent of quality fan art.
