SR Pick: Batman V Superman Trailer - The Weird Version

It's just a little over two months before the release of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Henry Cavill reprises his role as Clark Kent once more, this time meeting up with a world-weary Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) eventually leading them to form the Justice League. We are promised a great movie (of course), including a 'philosophically satisfying' fight between the two titular characters. As well, we can expect the introduction of Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor, Jason Momoa's Aquaman, and Ezra Miller's film version of The Flash.

The third Batman V Superman trailer, which dropped in December 2015, set the film up nicely but also came under fire for maybe giving away too much; including the arrival of Doomsday. Still, it gave Aldo Jones plenty of footage to play with and manipulate, resulting in the release of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Weird Trailer.

Weird is right. Take a look, above.

To really appreciate the genius behind this, you need to watch several times. The first couple of viewings highlight the clever facial manipulation, including the nod to the joker when Affleck says "I have a problem with figures dressed like clowns", and his wink to the camera seems as though it's meant to be and not just the result of some smart editing.

Funny additions, such as Mario Bros., Hannibal Lecter's mask, 'Here's Johnny', and Donkey Kong are good too, but it's the subtle background moments that really make this parody standout. Those with a fear of spiders might not want to look too closely, though. Also, see if you can spot Waldo.

The time and effort given to making this Batman V Superman 'weird' trailer is obvious, and it's really good fun (Lex Luthor's karate chops are epic), but it's interesting to note that there are no changes made to Doomsday. Maybe he already looks 'weird' enough?

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will hit theaters on March 25th, 2016, followed by Suicide Squad on August 5th, 2016, Wonder Woman on June 23rd, 2017, Justice League on November 17th, 2017, The Flash on March 23rd, 2018, Aquaman on July 27th, 2018, Shazam on April 5th, 2019, Justice League 2 on June 14th, 2019, Cyborg on April 3rd, 2020, and Green Lantern Corps on June 19th, 2020.
