Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is one of the biggest comic book superhero releases of 2016, not simply because it's the followup to Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, but because it's the launching pad for Warner Bros.'s entire DC Comics Extended Universe. As such, the discussion surrounding the film started long before its wide release, and really began to ramp up when early reactions from the New York premiere hit the web and were overwhelmingly positive. Then, the first critic reviews began rolling in shortly after, but they weren't quite as favorable as the early reactions.

Now, Batman V Superman is in theaters and general audiences can form their own opinions of the film. However, if there's one thing most people can agree on, it's that movie posters can be a cool piece of collectable memorabilia for a film. Mondo, known for their artistic and unique posters, has released two designs for the premiere of Batman V Superman.

Mondo debuted the Batman V Superman artwork on Twitter [h/t Comic Book Movie] on the movie's U.S. premiere date, but both posters have already sold out. The artwork is by regular Mondo artist Ken Taylor, who previously created prints in honor of Snyder's Man of Steel and Tim Burton's Batman when the 1989 film screened at MondoCon. Take a look at the posters:

The two posters are nearly identical, featuring Batman standing under the defaced "False God" statue of Superman and colored in a similar palette to the Batman V Superman film itself. However, one poster features Batman in his armored suit, while the other features the Caped Crusader in his more traditional getup.

Mondo announced the release of the posters on Twitter, and both have already sold out - which shouldn't come as too much of a surprise given the stunning artwork by Taylor, Mondo's reputation for providing limited edition posters, and the fan excitement for the film. Already, Batman V Superman has reportedly grossed more in its Thursday opening night than Marvel Studios' Avengers: Age of Ultron did last summer.

Of course, there has been speculation if the poor reviews for Batman V Superman will impact its opening weekend box office, with certain analysts suggesting the reviews will keep moviegoers unsure of the film from checking it out this weekend. But, as the discussion surrounding Batman V Superman has indicated, the fans of this film are passionate and continue to bring attention to certain well-received aspects of Snyder's feature - such as Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Certainly, if nothing else, the reaction to Batman V Superman has continued to fuel the interest in other films on the DCEU slate, like the Wonder Woman standalone feature and the other 2016 release, Suicide Squad.
