As we transition from the 2015 summer blockbuster season into the fall, plenty of high-profile tentpoles will be released (SpectreStar Wars: The Force AwakensThe Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2) alongside awards-bait prestige titles (In The Heart of the SeaSteve JobsOur Brand is Crisis), but we will bid the superhero genre farewell until 2016.

Next year's offerings in the mode of masks and capes may open with the February release of Deadpool, but for many fans the year really begins with Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, which introduces Ben Affleck's Batman and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman into the DC Extended Universe. With Dawn of Justice releasing in about six months, Warner Bros. has been parceling out new promotional material, such as a new look at the Batmobile and new details on the costume design.

Now, the studio has released several new high resolution images from Batman V Superman (via Collider), which you can see below. While we've seen the majority of these images before, these stills are in a higher quality than some of the screen grabs we've previously relied on.

Again, most these pictures are familiar: Gal Gadot in her Diana Prince guise; Henry Cavill, Amy Adams and Laurence Fishburne as Clark Kent, Lois Lane and Perry White in the offices of the Daily Planet; Affleck's Bruce Wayne and Jeremy Irons' Alfred in the ruins of what we think was Wayne Manor; Affleck's Wayne regarding his perhaps long-unused Batsuit.

We also have a look at the Batmobile from a new angle, along with a close-up of a very pissed off-looking Superman and a view of director Zack Snyder and Ben Affleck on set, surrounded by the aftermath of the destructive climax of Man of Steel. There's not much here in the way of clues to some of as-yet unanswered questions about Batman V Superman - such as the role Michael Shannon's deceased General Zod actually plays and how other heroes like Wonder Woman fit in to the overall plot.

Given how lean these offerings are, could we expect something more substantial as the 2015 holiday season grows ever closer? Warner Bros. will close out the rest of the year with prestige releases like Black Mass and are hopeful with a blockbuster in Pan, but Batman V Superman remains their biggest upcoming picture. Expect another trailer before the end of 2015.
