By now we've seen the latest incarnation of the Batmobile teased and then brazenly shown off in pictures on Zack Snyder's Twitter feed, but today we've been graced with another official picture of Batman's main method of conveyance (looking a little bit battle-scarred) in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The photo features Brad Globe and Karen McTier, the president and executive vice-president (respectively) of Warner Bros' consumer products, and is included in an article laying out the merchandising opportunities presented by the coming barrage of DC properties to both the big and small screens. They stand astride the Batman's ride as if to assure us that this will be one of the awesome crown jewels at the center of the marketing blitz that will surround the expansion of the DC universe.
The picture, published in the latest issue of License! Global, shows us much of what we already know. There are gun turrets mounted on the front (which seems counter-intuitive to Batman's distaste for guns, but which we've also seen in Tim Burton's and Joel Schumacher's interpretations) and the vehicle has a wider stance than we're used to seeing. This Batmobile seems like the natural progression from Christopher Nolan's stocky, tank-like construction but adds a sleekness; all of the military aesthetic with a little sexiness in good measure.

Though we have a solid idea of the chassis we can only speculate as to the amount of gadgetry director Snyder will be adding. Where older models employed campy oil slicks and grappling hooks that made sharp corners at fantastic speeds a breeze, Snyder seems to be angling for a grittier (certainly less colorful) world; one more bleak and realistic.
While that may preclude a great deal of the more outlandish bells and whistles on this Batmobile, one assumes that Batman's arsenal will still be filled with the gadgetry we've come to expect from the caped crusader. The trailer showed us a glimpse of the armored bat suit he used to fight Superman in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, so it's a good bet the car will do some cool stuff.
This is all speculative, as it must be at this stage, but Warner Bros. isn't being shy about offering sneak peeks at the vehicles and costumes of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. The DC cinematic universe has a long way to go to catch up to Marvel, not to mention having to struggle beneath the weight of legacy that Nolan's previous trilogy presents, so maybe a few peeks behind the curtain will inure us to the fact that we're not going to be seeing a retread. For better or worse, this will be its own entity.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice will be in theaters on March 25th, 2016; Suicide Squad on August 5th, 2016; Wonder Woman – June 23rd, 2017; Justice League – November 17th, 2017; The Flash – March 23rd, 2018; Aquaman – July 27th, 2018; Shazam – April 5th, 2019; Justice League 2 – June 14th, 2019; Cyborg – April 3rd, 2020; Green Lantern – June 19th, 2020.
