DC has various projects lined up for the near future, and among those is Batman Unburied, a very different project from what you would normally expect from DC Comics – and here's everything you need to know about it. Batman made his debut in Detective Comics #27 in 1939 and has since been an unstoppable force in the world of comic books, and has successfully branched out to other media, becoming one of the most popular characters in pop culture. Outside the comic book pages, Batman has gained a solid fanbase thanks to his TV shows and movies, and he’s about to take over a different realm in entertainment.

The Caped Crusader has expanded to TV, film, video games, and role-playing games, but he continues to be best known for his appearances in the first two categories. Many fondly remember TV shows like the 1966 series Batman starring Adam West and Burt Ward and the 1992 show Batman: The Animated Series, which famously saw the debut of Harley Quinn. In film, Batman has gone through many ups and downs, such as with Tim Burton’s Batman Returns and Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, regaining popularity with Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and later getting involved in some controversy with Ben Affleck’s version in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

However, there’s one entertainment branch that Batman has explored before and is making a comeback but with some changes to adapt to the modern world: audio drama. The Caped Crusader already has some works in this realm and is getting a new one in the form of Batman Unburied – here’s everything we know about it so far.

Batman Unburied Cast & Crew

Winston Duke - Batman Unburied

Batman Unburied is executive produced by David S. Goyer, a big name in Batman’s history, as well as by Keith Levine and Gracie Wheelan for Phantom Four and Liz Gateley and Elena Blekhter for Spotify, with Alex Kemp as director and Eric Carrasco, Saladin Ahmed, Rebecca Klingel, and Graham Westerson as writers. As for the cast, only two names have been announced so far: Winston Duke as Bruce Wayne, and Jason Isaacs as Alfred.

Batman Unburied Concept & Story Details

What sets Batman Unburied aside from other Batman projects is that it’s a scripted podcast, reminiscent of old audio and radio dramas. Listeners will be taken on a journey “deep into the mind of Bruce Wayne”, who is working as a forensic pathologist in the bowels of Gotham Hospital and tasked with examining the victims of The Harvester, a gruesome serial killer preying on Gotham’s citizens. This will not only force the superhero to face his own mental demons, but he will also have to overcome them in order to save the citizens of Gotham as his alter-ego, Batman.
