Batman: The Long Halloween is out, and it's one of the better-animated adaptations of a major DC comics storyline. Not only was the plot engaging but the movies were also bolstered by the voice acting talents of many well-known and established actors.

Many of these individuals are pop culture fan favorites in their own right, and it shows in the performances. There are some surprising additions to the cast, as well, but they all make for an engaging and riveting experience.

Poison Ivy / Katee Sackhoff

Katee Sackhoff is no stranger to comic book and sci-fi properties. She's starred in everything from the CW's Flash series to Star Wars: The Mandalorian, and films like Riddick. She's the perfect voice for the villainous Poison Ivy, blending malevolence and charm into the character's delivery.

Sackhoff easily captures the essence of this manipulative villain with an understated and sensual performance that is designed to show her mind control powers. She easily gets the upper hand against Bruce Wayne, enslaving his mind for months through some chemical pheromones and the power of her voice.

Alberto Falcone / Jack Quaid

Alberto Falcone makes an animated appearance in the films, portrayed by actor Jack Quaid. He's a perfect fit for the role, due mainly to his non-threatening voice and demeanor (which is a parallel of Alberto's personality). Quaid is now a pop culture mainstay for his performance as Hughie Campbell in the hit series The Boys, which is currently ramping up to a third season.

Alberto is assassinated at the end of part one by Holiday, which effectively eliminates a major suspect from the story, but Quaid succeeds in making the audience believe, just for a moment, that his character might be the infamous killer. There's an understated, intellectual delivery in Quaid's performance that leaves a trail of breadcrumbs for the audience to follow, even if it turns up cold.

Calendar Man / David Dastmalchian

David Dastmalchian is an extremely versatile actor who never seems to nab a leading role, yet manages to show up in a variety of large franchises. One of his biggest roles to date was 2021's The Suicide Squad, where he played the hilarious Polka-Dot Man. Ironically, Dastmalchian got his first big Hollywood role in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight.

Dastmalchian brings the cool and unnerving personality of the Calendar Man to life with a perfect delivery. The character is methodical, sinister, yet strangely disarming, and it's the actor's voice talents that sell it. Since Calendar Man is such a vital part of the plot, it was important that an actor like Dastmalchian brought him to life.

Carmine Falconi / Titus Welliver

The head of the Falconi crime family has become something of a Batman icon in recent years, becoming as famous as some of Gotham's most notorious supervillains. Actor Titus Welliver is no stranger to playing bad guys. He played the infamous Jimmy O'Phelan in the hit biker series Sons of Anarchy, as well as Agent Blake in Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Welliver's voice was made for this role, especially ones with a charismatic edge, like Falconi. This Godfather needs to be able to sell his appeal to the masses, and appear legitimate in the face of his own criminal dealings. Welliver knows how to voice a character that can feign benevolence, and let loose rage when called for.

The Joker / Troy Baker

Voice actor Troy Baker is best known for his portrayal of lead protagonist Joel Miller in the critically praised The Last Of Us video game. In addition, he has also had a slew of roles in titles like Batman: Arkham Knight, and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. So it's not really surprising that he became such an authentic Joker (which is a testament to his skill set).

In The Long Halloween, Baker summons his best impression of Mark Hamill's iconic Joker performance and manages to nail it. Baker also manages to make audiences laugh with a series of hilarious one-liners that only the Clown Prince of Crime could get away with. Alfred / Alastair Duncan

Though it's hard to place the face, there's no denying that Alastair Duncan has an impressive resumé. In The Long Halloween, Duncan portrays Bruce Wayne's ever-faithful butler Alfred Pennyworth with a sense of regal nobility and stature. The actor has played a variety of different roles over the years, starring in everything from the 1990s sitcom Blossom, to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and the voice of Garrus in the Mass Effect games.

This is classic Alfred, voiced by an actor who can bring out that distinguished charm and grace, while still showing he's got what it takes to work with Batman. Duncan gives the character a sense of weight and authority, especially for a younger version of Batman who still has a lot to endure.

Selina Kyle / Naya Rivera

Singer and actor Naya Rivera got most recognition for her work in television, appearing in everything from Family Matters and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, to American Dad! and Glee. Sadly, Rivera died in 2020 as a result of an accidental drowning.

Rivera portrayed Selina Kyle/Catwoman in The Long Halloween and it was one of her final film roles. She brought spirit and energy to the role, selling the character of Selina Kyle and her feline alter ego with ease. She ended up making Catwoman one of the most pleasant characters in the film.

James Gordon / Billy Burke

Actor Billy Burke got his Hollywood start in parody films like Mafia! and thrillers like Along Came A Spider. Since then, he's appeared in the Twilight franchise, Drive Angry, and the fireman's thriller Ladder 49. However, in The Long Halloween, Burke portrays a slightly gentler, less jaded version of James Gordon, which brought a nice change of pace.

He resonates well with the rest of the cast, particularly his alliance with Batman and Harvey Dent. Burke voices a Commissioner that hasn't yet become jaded in the face of insurmountable crime. He's pragmatic, but he's optimistic in spite of everything. Burke brings out that energy, making for one of the liveliest Gordons yet.

Harvey Dent / Josh Duhamel

Two-Face gets a brand new animated origin story in The Long Halloween, and actor Josh Duhamel lends his voice talents to bring the character to life. Although Duhamel got his big break in the original 2007 live-action Transformers film as William Lennox, reprising his role several times, he did provide a memorable performance in The Long Halloween too.

He's a fantastic fit for the role, duplicating the same kind of graveled grit made famous by Richard Moll in the 1990s animated Batman series, where Two-Face was one of the regulars. Duhamel also plays both Dent and Two-Face with excellence, drawing a clear line in the sand between the two characters. That's a hard act to pull off, as the two are distinctly different in many ways.

Batman / Jensen Ackles

The Caped Crusader is voiced by none other than Jensen Ackles in The Long Halloween, and it's an interesting departure from past Batman voice actors. Ackles is most famous for lending his voice talents to the character of Jason Todd, aka the Red Hood in the adaptation of Under The Red Hood, one of the best animated Batman films.

In addition, Ackles has been a staple of the CW horror fantasy series Supernatural, which ran for an unprecedented 15 seasons before ending in 2020. Ackles voices a younger Bruce Wayne/Batman in the relatively early days of his crimefighting career in Gotham City, which made him a solid fit for the role. He brought a sense of believability to a character that was making serious waves in Gotham's criminal underworld, without realizing just how far the rabbit hole could go.
