The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles head to Gotham City to take down Shredder, only to encounter Batman in the trailer for an upcoming crossover movie. Considering how many heroes and villains Batman has tangled with or fought alongside in various animated adventures, it's actually a bit surprising that it took so long for the Caped Crusader to finally crossover with New York City's martial artist turtles. Thankfully, that injustice is set to be rectified when Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is released this spring.

The animated crossover movie was only just recently officially announced, but its existence wasn't entirely a surprise, as such a project was first floated online back in 2016. Now, just a month after the announcement of Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the trailer for the PG-13-rated film has arrived. Directed by Jake Castorena (The Death of Superman), Batman Vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles's script was penned by Marly Halpern-Graser (Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!).

While Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles doesn't have a specific release date other than spring 2019, the trailer below (via Comic Network) does give fans a good idea what they can expect when watching the Warner Bros. and Nickelodeon co-production. The film is set in Gotham City, as the turtles have traveled there in order to stop a new plot by their archenemy Shredder and his Foot Clan. Naturally, Batman isn't pleased with this group of interlopers engaging in combat on his turf, and sets out to get answers about who they are and what they want, even if that means kicking some turtle butt.

As also revealed by the trailer for Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, way more heroes and villains will be involved then just the titular nocturnal quintet. Batgirl and Robin assist Batman, while many of the Dark Knight's greatest foes work alongside Shredder, including Ra's al Ghul, The Joker, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Bane, Harley Quinn, and more.

Voicing Batman will be Troy Baker, who's previously played the character in multiple animated projects and video games. Interestingly, Baker is also voicing The Joker, which is amusing when one considers the way the two characters are eternally tied together. As usual, Tara Strong is providing the voice of both Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, while animation heavyweights Tom Kenny and John DiMaggio voice Penguin and Mr. Freeze, respectively. Voicing Batgirl for the first time is Rachel Bloom, star of The CW's Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
