The Man of Steel and the Dark Knight don medieval armor as Batman and Superman star in new Dark Knights of Steel cover art. Dark Knights of Steel #6 has had its cover revealed. It features a split image of DC Comics' most popular duo in their medieval styles special to this series.

Dark Knights of Steel #6 has the creative team of Tom Taylor and Yasmine Putri. This series presents rival kingdoms within an alternate DC universe. Many familiar heroes have made debuts, including Superman, Batman, the Robins, Black Canary, Green Arrow, Black Lightning, Wonder Woman, and Supergirl. However, these DC heroes are not all allies, and their origins are very different from what fans are used to.

On Twitter, Tom Taylor shared the cover for the upcoming sixth issue. The cover art is credited to Dan Mora. It combines half of Superman with half of Batman in one stunning image. Thus far, DC has released three issues. The sixth will be arriving in April. This cover brings together the sons of the House of El - considering Batman has now been made part-Kryptonian within the series. Thanks to indiscretions by the kingdom's alien king, Superman and Batman are brothers, not just best friends looking out for each other whenever their world faces incredible threats.

Mora's cover highlights the outfits of the two main heroes of Dark Knights of Steel. Superman's costume is far different from his classic suit, being more practical despite still having a cape. His iconic insignia is present on his cloak pin, while Batman (referred to as Bat-Prince or Bruce in this series), still has his logo emblazoned on his chest plate. Bruce is also seen wielding a sword, which shares his bat-motif. This series has made several changes to these heroes' origins: Superman's Kryptonian parents escaped Krypton and became monarchs, while Bruce is the illegitimate son of Jor-El and his mother, Martha. As a result, Bruce now has powers, like other Kryptonians.

While comic covers have mirrored these two heroes in a similar pose before, the changes to these characters' origins makes it even more powerful. These two are not just Justice League allies. They share blood connections and even share similar abilities - though Bruce is just discovering them and Kal-El seems largely unaware of it as of Dark Knights of Steel #3. This isn't a typical DC superhero story, nor is it a typical fantasy. Like this cover, Dark Knights of Steel brings together elements of both in a stellar way. Batman and Superman may be part of the same kingdom right now, but there are plenty of reasons for the two to end up at odds with one another, and fans can see the latest DC Comics twists when Dark Knights of Steel #6 releases April 5.
