Superman might be able to fly halfway around the world in the same time it takes for the rest of us to brush our teeth, but Batman is a little more grounded (literally) and has to make do with commuting like the rest of his fellow humans. It's hard to complain about the mode of transportation, however; Batman's various Batmobiles throughout his many on-screen incarnations have featured an enviable blend of style, speed and gadgetry.
Before we even knew what Superman or Wonder Woman would look like in Zack Snyder's upcoming DC team-up movie Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, we knew what the Batmobile would look like. In fact, the initial glimpse of the Batmobile was the first official image released for Batman V Superman, shortly before Snyder revealed a look at a beefy, brooding Ben Affleck in costume alongside the redesigned vehicle.
Warner Bros. has been struggling somewhat to keep the filming of Batman V Superman away from prying eyes (and cameras), leading to in-depth fan discussion about Jesse Eisenberg's hair, Ben Affleck's shoulder and Scoot McNairy's legs. Now it's time for the Batmobile to get back in the spotlight, however, as some Instagram users and a reader over at AICN spotted the uncovered Batmobile during a night shoot at the Russell Industrial Center in Detroit. Some of the images have since been taken down from Instagram (it's possible that Warner Bros. had the photographers quietly assassinated), but photos from multiple angles have been preserved over at Batman News.
Although as a rule Batman only works in black (and sometimes very, very dark grey), the Batmobile appears to be a shade of light brown in some of the photos. Since the only other images we've seen of it so far have been monochrome it's difficult to say whether this is how the Batmobile is actually colored, or whether it's simply a bit dusty at this point in the movie.
As we've noted previously, the new Batmobile appears to be halfway between some of the classic car designs and the tank-like aesthetic of the Tumbler from Christopher Nolan's movies. This vehicle has an almost insectile appearance, especially when the two doors are raised, and the birds-eye view reveals two prongs on the front that look not unlike spider fangs. It also seems to be a two-seater, so Batman could potentially let Superman or Wonder Woman ride alongside him.
