Warning: Spoilers for Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4 ahead!

A new, and extremely mysterious, character is joining the DC Universe as artist Dan Mora shares a first look at what appears to be an amalgam character of Batman and Superman, who will debut in Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4. There are zero details revealed as of now around who or what this new character is, but Mora's tweet is already getting fans extremely excited!

In both of these major superheroes' long, long histories at DC Comics there has never been a composite character of the two heroes that wasn't done as a joke or gimmick, making this a pretty major moment for the franchise. Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent are often said to look alike, both being buff dark-haired brunets with chiseled jaws and abs, so if they were to somehow have a child together, it's pretty easy to assume what a Batman/Superman merger would look like beneath his cowl.

Batman/Superman: World's Finest #4 - written by the legendary Mark Waid (Kingdom Come, JLA: Tower of Babel) with gorgeous art by Dan Mora (Future State: Dark Detective, Once & Future) - is a story set in the not-so-distant past during a time where Dick Grayson is still operating as Robin, following Batman and Superman as they team up to take down a mysterious foe. The puppeteer behind their attacks by Poison Ivy, Metallo, the Penguin and others is revealed to be the Devil Nezha, sending the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight on a bombastic adventure to save humanity from Nezha's demonic fire threatening to engulf the world. Dan Mora's art, shared on Twitter, reveals a stunning new character design who is clearly meant to appear as a composite of Bruce and Clark, with both of their faces hanging in the background behind the composite. The truly epic new character design includes a brilliant merger of the two heroes main symbols, something that creators have tried and failed to do time and time again, a combined logo that will hopefully stick around in stories to come.

Interestingly, the new character looks to be an amalgam of many DC characters, as he is drawn with what looks to be the Lasso of Truth on his waist, Green Lantern-esque energy around his white-gloved hands, and a Red Hood-like bat cowl on his head. Perhaps this new character will be either a psychic or magical construct, somehow created from the memories, intentions, and powers of Superman and Batman? The character that Mora's art most resembles is Kon-El's Superboy (Conner Kent), a character introduced in the 90s "Reign of the Supermen" event who was a clone of Superman and Lex Luthor. It would be awesome to have a cloned child of Bruce and Clark, although it is unclear how this would tie into the current story arc around the Devil Nezha. Hilariously, some fans responded to Mora's tweet commenting on how the art looked like a Dragon Ball-style Super Saiyan fusion between Goku and Vegeta, and it would truly funny to see Clark and Bruce attempt a Fusion Dance. Dan Mora has previously snuck in a reference to Goku in a prior issue of World's Finest, meaning that this Dragon Ball fusion reference could actually be more accurate and telling than it might seem on the surface.

The synopsis for World's Finest #4 reveals that Batman and Superman will be forced to fight against Hal Jordan, so there is a chance that through a combination of magic, science, or willpower this new character is formed. Batman and Superman may be close friends, but in the pages of World's Finest they may be getting closer than ever before.
