Warning! spoilers for Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #3!
DC Comics’ Batman and G.I. Joe’s Snake Eyes have been pitted against each other in a nightmarish game of Fortnite, leading them to break the in-game world as well as the entire idea behind the Battle Royale concept. And here all the other Fortnite players wanted to do was enjoy beating each other senseless while having a little fun in between.
Seen in the newest issue of the surprisingly epic crossover event, Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point #3 by Christos Gage and Reilly Brown, Batman has gotten too good for a game that can’t keep up with a hero that just wants out of this ever-looping game of death. Having helped his lover and partner in crime, Catwoman, succeed in getting off the battlefield in one piece, Batman has fallen into a dangerous groove that sees him becoming an exponentially better player as time goes on; one that the Fortnite overlords are starting to get nervous about.
Needing to slow Batman’s progress down a bit, a new challenger is sent into the game with the hopes that he might be able to keep Batman occupied while also giving them more of an opportunity to observe the man. Unleashing the iconic G.I. Joe character known as Snake Eyes, Batman immediately has his hands full with a guy that is his near equal in terms of battle prowess, smarts and the drive to win.
Fighting battle after reset battle in the most epic of fashions, Batman and Snake Eyes have drawn the eyes of not only the people running this twisted Fortnite game, but the players as well! Shown in a gorgeous splash page that depicts Batman and Snake Eyes quite literally fighting on top of an airborne car and runaway semi-truck, all eyes are on a battle that only gets better by the moment as the remaining Fortnite players have laid down their arms to watch the duel play out.
Setting up shop around these two unbelievably good rivals, the rest of the Fortnite crew have eschewed the idea of what a game of Battle Royale is supposed to be. By building vantage towers circling the area, plopping themselves down on nearby cliff faces and even bringing along some refreshments to enjoy the battle hitting a fever pitch before them, Batman and Snake Eyes have effectively broken a Fortnite game that is supposed to be all shooting and looting rather than wide eyes and agape jaws.
So while Batman and Snake Eyes continue to lay the smackdown on each other until one of them either gives up or wins, it can’t be denied that Fortnite was just broken by their equally as wild and enthralling game of fisticuffs that only they can provide. Batman may be close to finally breaking out of his Fortnite prison, but with Snake Eyes constantly throwing ninja stars his way, he’s going to need to work a whole lot harder.
