Alicia Silverstone wants a remake of the 1997 superhero movie Batman & Robin and to replay her role as Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl. Barbara Gordon was the niece of Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Gough) who comes to the aid of Gotham vigilantes Bruce Wayne aka Batman (George Clooney) and Dick Grayson aka Robin (Chris O'Donnell). While the movie received negative feedback from critics, Silverstone enjoyed her time on set with the cast and wishes to put the black cape back on.

In this Batman movie, Alfred's niece Barbara comes back to Gotham to help care for her dying uncle and while doing so, she helps Batman and Robin with the threats of Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman) and Mr. Freeze (Arnold Schwarzenegger). Despite Silverstone enjoying her time filming, the movie's outcome did not meet their expectations and the actress was criticized for her weight. In addition, it became the lowest grossing Batman movie to date. Still, Silverstone has plenty to say about her time with her cast mates.

In an interview with Collider, Silverstone explained that she liked doing her scenes with both Gough and Thurman. The actress went on to say that she'd like to play Batgirl again. Silverstone said:

I mean, I loved all my scenes with Michael Gough. Michael Gough is a dream and I just love that man so much. So, you know, just being with him was incredible and lovely. I’m trying to think what else I’d be proud of. I mean, I like it when I get to do the fighting scenes with Uma Thurman. That’s fun. But I’d like to do it all over again as this woman! [Laughs] I think it would be much better now.

Batman, Robin, and Batgirl line up in Batman & Robin

This isn't the first time Silverstone said she wants to play Batgirl again. In 2017, Silverstone said she would be a much better Batgirl today because she's older and her acting has improved. In addition to missing her Batgirl days, the actress also has a new movie out right now called Bad Therapy. After the release of Batman & Robin, Silverstone went on to become part of numerous TV shows and movies such as Miss Match, Braceface and Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Long Haul.

At the time, Silverstone's performance in Batman & Robin received some mockery, in the form of a Razzie Award, though it also struck a chord with children. She took home a Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Award for Favorite Movie Actress. Kids may have enjoyed her performance, but the adults did not. Regardless of the mixed feedback for her Batgirl performance, the actress was still involved in many projects in her career.

There have been no plans for a Batman & Robin remake so far. The Dark Knight is currently set to star in a solo movie, The Batman, from director Matt Reeves that will star Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne. Additionally, a solo Batgirl movie is also in development at Warner Bros. After the negative criticism from the 1997 movie, it's unlikely for a remake to ever happen, however Silverstone seems prepared for a return as Batgirl if the chance should come to reprise her Batman & Robin role.
