New fan art imagines what Andy Serkis might look like as a DCEU version of famed Batman villain the Penguin. He's been around since first appearing in DC Comics in 1941, and was famously played on television by Burgess Meredith in the 1960s Batman TV Series. Danny DeVito brought him to creepy life for the movies in Tim Burton's Batman Returns, and nowadays he's played by Robin Lord Taylor on the series Gotham. And soon, the Penguin may make his debut in the DCEU.

According to reports, Warner Bros. is keen to bring the Penguin aka Oswald Chesterfield Cobblepot to one of their upcoming DCEU properties. The character could make his logical debut in Matt Reeves' The Batman (alongside Ben Affleck, if Affleck indeed remains involved in the film). Or, the Penguin could make his first DCEU appearance alongside Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn in the female-centered Birds of Prey.

As of now, the question of who would play this new DCEU incarnation of the Penguin is very much up in the air. But prolific fan artist Boss Logic has an idea for who should tackle the role, and he's come up with some art to help us visualize the idea. In Boss Logic's new creation, Andy Serkis becomes the Penguin. Check out the image below:

Serkis of course has won praise as perhaps Hollywood's finest motion-capture actor, with his classic performances as Gollum in the Lord of the Rings movies and Caesar in the Planet of the Apes films. But Serkis also recently had a chance to play a memorably non-mo-cap role as the gleefully deranged Ulysses Klaue in Black Panther. Given the Penguin's bizarre appearance, Serkis could do the character as pure mo-cap with CGI to craft his face. Or he could go the prosthetic route, as DeVito did in Batman Returns. Either way, Serkis indeed is an interesting casting choice for the Penguin. And the actor in fact has expressed interest in tackling a role in The Batman, reuniting with War for the Planet of the Apes director Reeves.

But of course, the Penguin being a classic Batman villain, many actors will line up seeking to nab the part. Josh Gad has notably been lobbying for years to play the Penguin in the DCEU. After news broke that Warner Bros. wants a DCEU Penguin, frequent Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright collaborator Nick Frost threw his name into the mix as well. If you have any other suggestions for who should don the Penguin's top hat and monocle in the DCEU, drop them in the comments.
