Warning! Spoilers for Dark Knights of Steel #2 by DC Comics

In the Dark Knights of Steel universe, Batman just used his new powers to change his origin like never before. In a new preview of Dark Knights of Steel #2 by DC Comics, Batman avenges Jor-El just moments after his father's death. The bastard son of the House of El breaks an arrow with his bare hands, lunges in the air, and slices the arm off Jor-El's killer, Green Arrow.

In Tom Taylor and Yasmine Putri's epic new series, Dark Knights of Steel, the DC Universe becomes a world of swords and sorcery in a fantasy setting where heroes and villains control houses around the globe. The House of El is led by King Jor-El and Queen Lara-El, and their heir, Prince Kal-El - who all crashed onto the Earth years ago, setting forth a prophecy by John Constantine. Meanwhile, Bruce the Bat-Prince is introduced as the Bastard son of Queen Martha with no claim to the throne. Instead, he's taken on the role of protector of Kal-El, effectively becoming the universe's version of The Witcher. However, the debut issue revealed Bruce was actually the son of Jor-El and had a claim to the throne. Unfortunately, as Jor-El tells the important secret to the medieval Batman, he's killed by a magic arrow.

Bruce shows off his potential powers, catching an arrow shot at Alfred and breaking it with his hands. Green Arrow even wonders, "how the hell?" after Bat-Prince sees him. He lunges through the air to strike the sharpshooter with his sword, cutting off his hand. Batman and Alfred successfully capture Green Arrow, as they hope to get answers from the bow-wielding killer.

The preview pages tease Batman's potential powers and show a new brutal, reverse origin for the hero. In Bruce Wayne's classic origin, he can only watch as Joe Chill kills his parents, as he's powerless in stopping him as a kid. In this story, Batman immediately chases down the Green Arrow, captures him, and intends on getting justice for his slain father. It will be exciting to see Batman's new powers continue to manifest and whether he'll reveal his true parentage to Kal-El as chaos builds around them. Dark Knights of Steel #2 by DC Comics is in comic book stores on Tuesday.
