In a Screen Rant documentary, see how Batman came to life and developed into two iconic Hollywood adaptions. In 1939, Detective Comics #27 hit newsstands. This comic introduced one of pop-culture's most endearing characters. After appearing in countless comics, several animated media, and blockbuster hits, it's fair to say Batman is one of the most successful comic book creations. There is always something new in the works, whether it be a video game or a fresh theatrical take on the character.

The Dark Knight himself is the subject of a recent Screen Rant documentary. The video dives into the development of Batman's first big blockbuster hit in Tim Burton's Batman and Christopher Nolan's modern take in Batman Begins. Also, the documentary explores Batman's creation, touching on Bob Kane retaining credit for decades despite Bill Finger's heavy involvement. Check out the video below:

There's a lot of cool trivia in the video, such as the top of the bell tower climax in 1989's Batman not being Burton's idea. It's interesting to imagine what could have happened if Burton had free reign in his debut Batman film without producer Jon Peters' input.

Meanwhile, the video highlights the tragedy of not giving credit where credit is due. It took more than seven decades for Bill Finger to be officially credited for co-creating Batman. All in all, one can probably spend hours discussing Batman's history in comics and other media. Before Robert Pattinson puts on the cowl in 2022, fans can look forward to seeing an animated adaption for Batman: The Long Halloween next year.
