Warner Bros. will premiere a new trailer for Matt Reeves's The Batman at DC FanDome in October. Audiences got their first look at Robert Pattinson's caped crusader at last year's DC FanDome in a trailer that many say stole the show, showcasing a more grounded murder mystery than the big-budget spectacle of previous Batman films. Since then fans have been waiting to see more of the film, and with the release date fast approaching it was only a matter of time until a new trailer was released.

Originally intended to focus on Ben Affleck's incarnation of Batman and be a part of the DCEU, The Batman slowly evolved into a new incarnation of the dark knight which will take place in its own universe as part of DC's plans to integrate a multiverse. The film draws heavy inspiration from Darwyn Cooke’s Batman: Ego and Other Tales, Jeph Loeb’s Batman: The Long Halloween, and Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One. Matt Reeves has teased the film will be the most emotional Batman movie yet.

In an official press release, Warner Bros. has unveiled that the newest trailer for The Batman will premiere at DC FanDome on October 16, 2021. This will be a little over a year from the release of the first teaser trailer. The trailer will now arrive five months before the official release of the film on March 4, 2022. Warner Bros.' official statement is below:

Warner Bros. Pictures will showcase six highly anticipated titles with an exclusive new trailer for The Batman, new content from DC League of Super-Pets, a first look at Black Adam, a sneak peek at The Flash, and behind the scenes looks at Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

The original trailer for The Batman was released when filming was only halfway complete, so the amount of footage the studio could show was limited. Now with filming complete, and VFX work underway, the trailer may showcase more footage of Gotham City itself as well as better looks at Colin Farrell's Penguin, Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman, and Paul Dano's Riddler. The October 16, 2021, DC FanDome date also means the trailer will be ready to play in theaters before Warner Bros.' Dune and other high-profile superhero films like Eternals and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Batman has been a consistently popular box-office draw for audiences, and the arrival of a new Batman tends to draw a lot of excitement from the movie-going public. By the time The Batman hits theaters, it will have been almost 17 years since Christian Bale took on the mantle of the character in 2005, which is a longer gap in time than between Bale and Michael Keaton. If the box-office reaction to The Dark Knight trilogy is any indicator, there is a large appetite for The Batman that could help the market rebound after the COVID-19 pandemic.
