New The Batman set photos show the Caped Crusader in his batsuit preparing to take flight. Production on Matt Reeves' highly anticipated reboot resumed last month in the United Kingdom after star Robert Pattinson tested positive for coronavirus. This had already followed the industry-wide shutdown from March to September, all of which ultimately caused The Batman's release to be delayed to March 2022.

Still, the slew of talent in front of and behind the camera will have no problem keeping fans hyped until then. Reeves, who helmed the second and third entries in the groundbreaking Planet of the Apes reboot trilogy, is directing an all-star cast including Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright, and frequent Reeves collaborator Andy Serkis, among others. The Batman will take a noir, detective approach to the superhero as he tries to catch The Riddler. The hype is building not just among fans but within the ranks of Warner Bros. as the studio already reportedly plans to make two sequels and a police procedural spin-off series for HBO Max.

There's been no shortage of new The Batman set photos lately, and fans just hit the jackpot again. The Wrap and Yahoo reported photos last night showing The Batman stuntman about to jump from the Royal Liver Building clocktower in Liverpool, England. Attached to a cable and donning the iconic Batman mask, the stuntman is also wearing some sort of black trash bag-looking suit that will likely be enhanced with CGI in post-production. Filming has been taking place in Liverpool all month, with onlookers leaking all kinds of footage as the production moves around the city. Just this week alone, fans caught a glimpse of Batman and Catwoman racing their two-wheelers through a cemetery and snapped detailed pics of Batman's suit, which controversially includes a gun holster.

History has shown that set photos and other production images can often be misleading. This has been particularly true for Batman movies, as anyone who saw The Dark Knight in theaters remembers how the initial promo images of Heath Ledger as the Joker were negatively received as downright silly. Now, of course, Ledger's take on the villain ranks among the greatest ever and even earned him a rare posthumous Oscar. If there's anything to take away from the slew of The Batman photos lately, it's that a lot can change from the film set to the big screen.
