Warner Bros. and DC's The Batman movie set photos reveal a first look at Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, but not in his Batman costume. When the unofficially titled DC Extended Universe kicked off a few years ago, the next solo Batman movie was set to star Ben Affleck, who would additionally write and direct it. However, after debuting in the divisive Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and continuing in the financially unsuccessful Justice League, Affleck stepped away from the DCEU. First, Matt Reeves took over as director on The Batman, then Affleck officially exited, leaving the door open for a new actor to don the cape and cowl.

Following Affleck's exit, Pattinson was cast as Batman, set to debut in Reeves' movie with the potential to lead his own Dark Knight-focused franchise. Pattinson will be joined in the movie by a talented cast of actors, who will bring to life various other DC Comics characters, including heroes and villains. Now, with The Batman movie started filming in the first week of the new year, set photos are already beginning to surface, some even showcasing Pattinson as Bruce Wayne.

On Twitter, Wade Gravett posted a series of photos of The Batman movie in production. In addition to a first look at Colin Farrell as Penguin in The Batman, the photos also seem to feature Pattinson on a motorcycle, though he's not in his official Batman costume. Instead, he's in civilian clothes and most of his face is concealed. Check out The Batman set photos below.

As Gravett notes, it's difficult to tell whether this is Pattinson, but there are two important clues that it is The Batman's star. First, the camera is close enough to the actor that it's likely they're filming a closeup - and it wouldn't make sense to film a closeup on a stunt double. Second, there's a set photographer off to the side, also taking images of the actor on the motorcycle, further indicating it's one of The Batman's stars. While it's possible this could be another main cast member or character in The Batman, it's most likely the film's star, Pattinson. Plus, those eyebrows do look an awful lot like Pattinson's.

Still, while this may be our first look at The Batman's Bruce Wayne, fans are no doubt more excited to see the Pattinson in his Batman costume. It's unclear when that will be revealed, whether Warner Bros. and Reeves will debut it officially online or if it will arrive via an unofficial set photo. Considering how much has already been revealed by The Batman set photos, it may be smart to at least offer fans an official costume teaser, just like Warner Bros. did with Joaquin Phoenix's Joker and the cast of Birds of Prey. Whether the studio goes that route remains to be seen. Until a first look at The Batman official costume is released, though, fans can speculate on what it will look like and tide themselves over with these set photos of Pattinson as Bruce Wayne.
