Paul Dano will play Riddler in Matt Reeves' upcoming movie The Batman, and the actor is already teasing a powerful script. The Batman will be a part of DC Extended Universe when it releases next year. It will see Robert Pattinson take over the title superhero role from Ben Affleck, who's already starred in two DCEU movies. Though The Batman was only about 25% done filming when the coronavirus hit Hollywood, fans already know some about the story. For one, it will feature several classic Batman villains.

In addition to Dano, The Batman will also star Colin Farrell as Penguin and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman. Both actors have spoken about their roles before. Farrell recently revealed he isn't in as much of the movie as some expected, saying he's "not all over it by any means." It seems likely Kravitz will have a bigger role as more of a partner to Batman. Before filming on the movie was shut down, the actress revealed she went through intense training to make sure she could play Catwoman convincingly.

Now, Dano has spoken more generally about The Batman's script, which was co-written by Reeves. In an interview with The Playlist, Dano said, "I think Matt Reeves is the real deal. I was really surprised by his script, which I think is, is potentially really powerful." Dano also joked he couldn't "even legally can’t say anything about it," but that "there’s something fun there in my character and in all the characters. It’s the kind of movie that we’re just desperate to share on the big screen in a big way...It’s going to be really cool.

Farrell previously said The Batman had "a really beautiful, dark, moving script, really gorgeous," so Dano's praise should make fans even more excited to see it. It makes sense those involved in the movie are speaking in general terms rather than specifics. Superhero movie scripts are notoriously well-guarded, with both DC and Marvel keen on keeping plot points a secret. It makes sense; the movie got a ton of promotion from Reeves' batsuit reveal, which gave fans their first look at Pattinson in the costume. If that had been leaked ahead of time, it wouldn't have had nearly the impact. It's also made set photos from The Batman a hot commodity, with fans scouring the Internet for even far away shots of the actors in character.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait awhile longer for any more set photos or other reveals, as The Batman remains shut down at this time. Though, they should be happy cast members like Dano are still excited about the movie and eager to share it with audiences. In fact, nearly every cast member interviewed since the movie stopped filming has indicated they're hoping to get back to work soon. In the meantime, fans can look forward to The Batman's potentially powerful story.
