Another image from the set of The Batman has leaked online, this time of a murder victim. On top of director Matt Reeves' tease of the batsuit in a test video, a plethora of set images and videos have made their way online. Some are of the full suit (minus the cape), batcycle, and Bruce Wayne getting attack by a Gotham gang. The newest reboot will take a look at the early days of Batman’s vigilante career in Gotham, a city inhabited by a slew of iconic villains.

Robert Pattinson will have his hands full as the caped crusader in Matt Reeves' The Batman. Zoë Kravitz is playing Catwoman (who could be a friend or foe), Paul Dano will appear as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone. In addition to those from Batman’s rogues’ gallery, Peter Sarsgaard is rumored to be appearing as Two-Face. It’s unclear how all of these presumed antagonists will intermingle with the film’s plot. However, given Reeves’ interest in the detective aspects of his titular character and rumors that the film will adapt comic storylines like The Long Halloween, it’s safe to say The Batman will challenge its hero’s moral compass.

Director Reeves announced the official start of filming on The Batman last month by posting a photo on Twitter of a clapperboard in front of a leather chair. Given the obvious secrecy surrounding the project, the simple photo revealed next to nothing about his film (other than a possible logo). Today, a group concerned with DCEU leaks on Reddit posted an image of a brutally murdered individual sitting in what appears to be that same chair. The victim is rumored to be the Riddler’s, and the chair in question supposedly sits in Wayne Manor. Check out Reeves’ tweet from last month, as well as the leaked image, below:

The Riddler hasn’t appeared on the big screen since Jim Carrey’s depiction in the 1995 film, Batman Forever. The villain has never been fully utilized in a dark and gritty live-action movie. That said, many fans have speculated that Dano’s Riddler will be the central antagonist of The Batman. In a story focused on Bruce Wayne’s development as a crime fighter and detective, what better adversary than one who constantly presents riddles?

The Riddler's love for puzzles extends to what he considers to be the biggest mystery of all: Batman’s identity. If the leaked image is of a Riddler victim in Wayne Manor, then it would imply that the Riddler knows Bruce Wayne is Batman in The Batman. His ultimate goal wouldn’t be to discover Batman’s identity but rather break down Bruce Wayne's identity on a deeper level. It seems unlikely that Reeves’ movie would try and juggle all of the announced villains as equal antagonists but instead position someone like The Riddler as a master manipulator. To establish a young Bruce Wayne as The World’s Greatest Detective, someone needs to put him through the wringer.
