UPDATE: Colin Farrell says this isn't his look for The Batman.

With filming on The Batman underway, new photos offer the best look yet at Colin Farrell's hairstyle and mustache as The Penguin in the DC movie. After being positioned to become the next big thing in Hollywood in the early 2000s, Farrell decided to forgo that path in favor of a much more fascinating career as a character actor instead. That's continued to be the case since his return to blockbusters in recent years, with Farrell playing seductive evil-wizard-in-disguise Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and a kindly WWI amputee and single father in Tim Burton's Dumbo remake.

Up next, Farell will follow in his Dumbo costar Danny DeVito's footsteps and bring the eccentric, wealthy, umbrella-wielding DC Comics villain Oswald Cobblepot (aka. The Penguin) to life in Matt Reeves' The Batman. The film started production a couple weeks back and several photos have already leaked from the set, offering a sneak peek at Farrell's appearance as The Penguin. However, outside of his silver hair and umbrella, those images didn't reveal a whole lot about his look in the movie.

Daily Mail Celebrity has since posted photos of Farrell on a coffee run online, providing a far clearer glimpse of his hairstyle and revealing his mustache and facial hair for the role. You can check those out in the space below.

It looks like Farrell's Penguin will be the first live-action version of the character to sport significant facial hair, unlike DeVito's iteration from Batman Returns and the equally clean-shaven Penguins Burgess Meredith and Robin Lord Taylor played in the 1960s Batman TV show and Fox's Gotham. Obviously, the actor isn't in his full costume here, with the previously-leaked Batman set photos confirming Farrell's version of Oswald Cobblepot wears his wealth on his sleeves. Still, you might've had a hard time guessing he's playing the typically pointy-noised, monocle-bearing, Penguin had Reeves not already confirmed Farrell for the role (following the set photo leaks), based on these new images.

Between Farrell's Van Dyke beard, Zoë Kravitz's short haircut for Catwoman (which she recently unveiled), and Robert Pattinson bringing Bruce Wayne to life after years of starring in weird indie and arthouse films (similar to Farrell), it's clear the residents of Reeves' version of Gotham City will look distinctly different from live-action Batman characters past. At the same time, they're confirmed to be taking inspiration from the Caped Crusader's rogue gallery in his previous films, with Kravitz drawing specifically from Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman in Batman Returns. Will Farrell likewise borrow from DeVito's memorably grotesque take on The Penguin from the same movie? After his wonderfully off-beat performances from idiosyncratic movies like In Bruges and The Lobster, we wouldn't put it past him.
