A new image from next year's The Batman offers a closer look at Zoë Kravitz's Catwoman. Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman is perhaps the most eagerly anticipated DC movie of 2022, though it was once scheduled to arrive this year. Before the coronavirus pandemic set in, the standalone feature was set to premiere back in June. Unfortunately, fans now have to wait until next March to see Robert Pattinson step into the role of Bruce Wayne. The Batman will find Bruce in his second year as Gotham's Caped Crusader, just as a dangerous new threat comes for the city.

The Batman is especially notable because it will feature a large cast comprised of some of the DC character's most well-known adversaries. The Riddler (Paul Dano) looks to be serving as the main antagonist, but audiences also shouldn't count out Colin Farrell's Penguin when it comes to mayhem, particularly since he's just received his own HBO Max spin-off show. Additionally, The Batman will feature John Turturro as Carmine Falcone and Kravitz as Catwoman.

The first proper look at Kravitz in character as Catwoman arrived last year with The Batman's first trailer at DC FanDome, and now that virtual fan event has supplied another fresh peek at her. On the official DC FanDome website, fans can see an up-close look at Catwoman in a section specifically dedicated to introducing visitors to the character. Her full costume can't be seen, but the photo offers a tantalizing look at her mask. Check it out below.

Catwoman and Batman have a complex relationship in the comics, and it seems likely that will translate into Reeves' film. As the first Batman trailer revealed, the two will brawl at one point, but Catwoman could end up being more of an ally by the time the movie ends. With the Riddler and Penguin making things difficult for Bruce, it would be a relief if one of his antagonists could actually be someone he would rely on. Plus, with Reeves hoping to make sequels, Batman and Catwoman's relationship could continue to grow and evolve in the future.

It's been over a year since the first trailer for The Batman arrived, and the wait is almost over for the second. DC FanDome will once again feature fresh footage for the highly-anticipated movie (hence the Catwoman picture on its site) next month. Much of The Batman still remains a mystery, and the event can perhaps provide some new details. If the Catwoman photo is any indication, there are a lot of exciting reveals ahead.
