DC's The Batman movie Batsuit cape is revealed for the first time in photos of the new Batmobile. Though the next Batman solo movie was originally set to star Ben Affleck, the actor exited the DCEU after Justice League and Warner Bros. tapped filmmaker Matt Reeves to take over as writer and director. Reeves cast Robert Pattinson as Batman, and the film was given a June 2021 release date. Just last month, Reeves unveiled a first look at Pattinson's Batman costume in a video posted on social media after filming officially began in January.

In the weeks since the costume was revealed, fans have been treated to further looks at The Batman's Batsuit and Batcycle in set photos taken during production. Additional set photos taken while filming that sequence also offered a first look at Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman, though she's wearing what appears to be street clothes rather than the character's comic book costume. However, one aspect of the Batsuit that's been missing is the cape - until now.

On Twitter, Reeves posted a series of three photos that unveiled The Batman's version of the Batmobile, but the images also include new looks at Pattinson's Batman costume - including, for the first time, the Batsuit's cape. Check out the photos above and below.

Considering many fans were hoping that Pattinson's Batman would get a cape, they're no doubt pleased to see one on display in these new photos. Two of the images tease what the cape will look like in action as it flares out behind Pattinson while he's partially obscured by the Batmobile. The photos also offer a better look at Pattinson's full official Batman costume, since the initial video only showed the actor from the chest up and the set photos featured a stuntman wearing what's likely a stunt version of the suit. Here we can see Pattinson's arm gauntlets, utility belt and the tactical look of the Batsuit's pants, though it's tough to spot real details since the focus of the photos is on the Batmobile rather than the costume.

While some fans may have liked Pattinson's Batsuit without a cape, Reeves has now essentially confirmed The Batman costume will include a cape. After all, it is an iconic piece of Batman's suit and many live-action versions have included the garment as part of the superhero's look. As filming continues on The Batman, hopefully fans will be treated to even more looks at Pattinson's costume (including Pattinson actually filming in the costume, rather than his stunt double) whether through official releases like this one or unofficial images taken by photographers. For now, fans hoping to see Pattinson's Batsuit include a cape in The Batman can rest assured knowing he will indeed wear one.
