Warning! Potential Spoilers for Michael Keaton's Batman projects
New DC art from Jim Lee might have revealed the new Batsuit that Michael Keaton will wear as Batman in the upcoming The Flash and Batgirl films. The legendary artist drew a piece for DC Comics' upcoming San Diego Comic-Con presentations showcasing the heroes of the DCEU, from live-action characters to cartoons. Included is Keaton's Batman, who may be wearing the same costume he will dawn in the upcoming superhero films.
Michael Keaton will return as Bruce Wayne and Batman in the upcoming The Flash movie, co-starring Ezra Miller, Ben Affleck, and Sasha Calle. Keaton is reprising the role more than 30 years after he first dawned the Batsuit in Batman by Tim Burton and its iconic sequel, Batman Returns. The film is adapting the comic book storyline Flashpoint, where Barry Allen's Flash goes back in time to save his mother from being murdered but accidentally rewrites the timeline in the process, creating an all-new world with considerable changes due to his changing the past. Keaton will also appear in Batgirl alongside Leslie Grace, where he's expected to serve as the mentor to the vigilante.
Jim Lee provided promotional art (H/T Newsarama) for the upcoming San Diego Comic-Con, where DC Comics, the DCEU, and more projects set in the universe are expected to be revealed. The piece showcases some of the most recognizable versions of DC characters, including Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam, Jason Mamoa's Aquaman, the Titans from Teen Titan Go, Zachary Levi's Shazam, Leslie Grace's Batgirl, and in the right-hand corner, a fully-suited up version of Michael Keaton's Batman.
The costume is quite similar to Batman's classic Batsuit Michael Keaton wore during the excellent Tim Burton films starring the Dark Knight. However, it seems to be much sleeker, while his cape appears to be slightly smaller than usual. DC Comics hasn't confirmed the Batsuit is the same Keaton will be wearing in the upcoming DCEU films, but considering Black Adam, Batgirl, Doctor Fate, and more featured in the art have accurate costumes to their live-action counterparts, there's a good chance this is the first look at the new Batman suit.
Jim Lee's art has given DC fans the first look at costumes for popular live-action characters before, as his DC FanDome image in 2020 featured the debut of Javicia Leslie's Batwoman suit before she made her live-action first appearance. Will the sleek but familiar Michael Keaton Batsuit seen in the new San Diego Comic-Con promotional art be the costume sports in Batman's upcoming live-action projects? Fans will, unfortunately, have to wait to find out.
