Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for Batman: The Long Halloween: Part 1.
One of the most popular Batman stories of all time, The Long Halloween has finally been adapted into a two-part animated feature. Part one has been released and proven itself to be faithful to the source material, although Warner Bros. Animation has made enough changes to make it fresh and interesting for comic readers who are well-familiar with the original book. This begs the question of what is known so far about the second half of the animated adaptation and what audiences can expect.
Set in the early days of Batman's vigil, The Long Halloween centers around a series of murders targeting associates of Carmine "The Roman" Falcone; the Godfather of Gotham City's mob families. The killer is dubbed the Holiday Killer (or simply Holiday) due to all of their murders occurring on major American holidays, starting with Halloween. The killer also leaves an object relating to the relevant holiday (such as a Jack-o'-lantern for Halloween or a cornucopia for Thanksgiving) at every crime scene as a calling card, along with the murder weapon.
Batman: The Long Halloween - Part 1 ended on New Year's Eve with the murder of Carmine Falcone's son, Alberto. This leaves most of the year to come, which will later become known among the criminals of Gotham City as the Long Halloween, left to play out. It's possible, however, that the ending and the identity of the Holiday killer could be changed from the original graphic novel; a step that Warner Bros. Animation has taken on several occasions. Here's all there is to know about Batman: The Long Halloween - Part 2.
Batman: The Long Halloween Part 2 Release Date
There will not be a long wait to see the mystery of the Holiday killer resolved. Batman: The Long Halloween - Part 2 is scheduled for release on July 27, 2021. That gives dedicated Bat-Fans just over a month to consider the evidence and come up with their own theories as to who Holiday might be.
Batman: The Long Halloween - Part 2 Cast & DC Characters
All of the core cast from Batman: The Long Halloween: Part 1 are returning for the second half, including Jensen Ackles as Batman and Bruce Wayne. The cast will expand considerably, however, as the second half of the graphic novel saw Gotham City's various supervillains escaping from Arkham Asylum and executing their own twisted schemes amid the chaos caused by the Holiday killings. The new cast will include Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan in The Mandalorian) as Poison Ivy and John DiMaggio (Bender in Futurama) as the Mad Hatter.
Batman: The Long Halloween - Part 2 Story Details
Beyond the mystery of Holiday's identity, The Long Halloween is also the story of District Attorney Harvey Dent, detailing his downfall and how he became the Duke of Duality, Two-Face. The trailer for Batman: The Long Halloween - Part 2 has confirmed that this will be a major subplot of the adaptation as well, as Batman and Commissioner Gordon start to consider the possibility that their ally has gone over the edge and that he might be Holiday. The movie will also see Batman having to thwart a team-up between the Mad Hatter and Scarecrow and having to overcome the machinations of Poison Ivy, with the assistance of Catwoman.
