More information has been revealed about the release of the upcoming DC Comics Batman & Harley Quinn animated film. The popularity of female heroes, anti-heroes, and villains has skyrocketed since actress Margot Robbie portrayed the unhinged character Harley Quinn in last year's Suicide Squad. And that popularity looks as though it will continue to rise with the upcoming worldwide release of Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman, which is already receiving rave reviews, and the upcoming Suicide Squad spinoff based on Gotham City Sirens featuring Quinn, Cat Woman, and Poison Ivy.

Now, after last April's first look at the film and last week's snippet of The Big Bang Theory's Melissa Rauch voicing Quinn, we finally have a release date and a look inside the special features for Batman & Harley Quinn fans have been waiting for since the announcement of the film last year.

The popular character will make her return teaming up in an unlikely partnership with Batman and Nightwing to catch her best friend and partner in crime, Poison Ivy, when she embarks on a ecological mission with Jason Woodrue (The Floronic Man) to save the planet and eliminate humankind. The film has been slated to be released by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on Digital HD on August 15 and will be available on Blu-ray and DVD on August 29.

We also  have a look from Warner Bros. of the official cover art featuring Harley Quinn (with her signature mallet), Batman and Nightwing running along Gotham City's rooftops. Here is a look at the new cover art for the film:
